Its, IN MY DREAMS. I wish I knew, man, that would be awesome. I should ask around and call Ridell.

Because of Mr. West's lawsuit, umpires everywhere have been denied the superior protection that the Riddell Power afforded

. Riddell did it to themselves. If they had simply brokered and honored a dividend to Joe West on the Power CP, we wouldn’t have been “denied the superior protection”. Riddell is just as slimy in this puddle.

So too, Joe West wasn’t the one that conjoined a Cease-&-Desist letter, a (potential) Patent Infringement lawsuit, and the (relatively) vast fortunes of American football equipment. That was a shark 🦈 (not a typo) lawyer for Wilson that stuck the dagger in deep. Riddell was top-of-the-heap in football, with All-American, Douglas, Bike (which became Adams, and then assumed by Schutt), and Schutt all being much more prominent players over Wilson… who had little impact upon football, other than the actual footballs themselves.

If ya can’t beat ‘em… litigate the $h!t outta ‘em.

Trust me, that Douglas was nothing special, and the $29.95 West Vest we all got off of Amazon.com last December

A forum I found! Back from the late 90s early 2000s, back when  a Wilson West Vest was $30.

No, just… no. The WestVest has never been $30. You have to consider the source (Amazon). Wilson would never devalue such “signature” products. I can assure you, that those WestVests that were (massively) discounted were coming out of a retail / wholesale liquidation, not from Wilson directly. Retailers are forced to purchase supply from Wilson, and then re-sell through their retail channels. If the product doesn’t move, it doesn’t matter to Wilson, because they’ve already been paid.

That antiquated, arcane manufacturer – buyer (job title, not customer) – wholesaler – retailer model is a severe handicap on product progression and development. One has to implement changes months-to-seasons out, and if something changes in the market – such as new technology, or new production methods, or new materials, or… new colors (hear that you navy-loving codgers??!) – you are typically limited for fear of distressing customers and retailers alike.

It was this one (not the gold or platinum, think this was called the Wilson Professional.) They were on Amazon for a hot second.

You might be trolling but if you don’t know Max’s opinion on the Schutt you haven’t gone very far into the archives of the website… 🤣

I would highly recommend taking the time to explore the archives and carefully review Max's contributions, as I believe you will find it to be an enlightening and worthwhile endeavor. Additionally, I suggest reflecting on your emotions and giving them thoughtful consideration before crafting responses. Remember that not every comment is meant to be insulting. It's easy to misinterpret tone in writing and I doubt any insult was intended.

I understand that, it just seems that I have been putdown more on this topic rather than encouraged. I was just letting him know and everyone know that i like to be called by my name, I think thats more than fair. I dont want the coaches out on the field calling me champ, nor would i want other umpires to.

Dont get me wrong, I really do enjoy Mad Max's insight, but I dont see him calling other people on here champ, and other stuff like that. My work speaks for itself, you guys have seen what I do, and understand I take pride in my work, so if looking at some of Mad Max's forums helps me then i would be more than willing to look at them, even if they dont, its good insight. I just dont care for the name "champ". What would really be nice is for you guys to say, hey, these look great, may i offer a suggestion or something, maybe talk to me a little bit more rather than talk down to me. I am open for suggestions, I want to be the best that I can be.  As for champ, i wont mention it again, @MadMax I know you probably didnt mean anything by it, all good. Lets continue on.

New topic, the orange riddell is comming along good, any suggestions that I could relay to the customer on making this thing the goat, or look badass!

Orangle plates!

I can’t tell from the photo… is what you’re showing us:

  1. The original orange?
  2. The orange painted by the previous / current owner?
  3. Your team’s painting of it orange?

In other words, we can see it's rechargeable. Is it Mark I, II, or III?

What the orange distracted you from noticing is that the shoulders were not attached using stitching between the main pad and the shoulder pad but by a webbing from the main carapace to the shoulder-pad. It’s still relying on stitching between the pad and webbing but whoever did this was on the right track of eliminating the stitching.

Because the shoulder padding is orange, if I had to guess this started as orange, got painted black and then repainted orange. Further evidence of this is the lack of sticker residue on the carapace plates. Whoever painted it black must have removed the stickers and then scraped the residue to best prep the surface. If this was the original orange you would see a difference in shade underneath where the stickers should be. The sheen is also way off from the other pictures I’ve seen of orange ones. This is matte when all the others have been semigloss. Matte is more likely a sheen chosen by someone not wanting to standout “too much.”

Alright, I'm in. 'Cause there's some next level sh*t going on and I'm OK with that. But before y'all go beaming me up there's one thing you gotta remember: you chose me so you recognized the skills, so I don't want you to call me champ, sport, kid, or anything like that. You got me?

MADMAX:
Okay, slick. But let me tell you something about all your skills. As of right now, they mean precisely... dick.

Sorry, yes the original orange, it had a black wrap on it before that we took off for the customer.
