Bottom Line Up Front (BLUF):  Will the NuttyBuddy Trophy size cup fit into the cup pocket of an UnderArmour Jockstrap?

You guys have me convinced to try the NB.

I took a one hopper straight to the boys behind the plate in a  D2 game on Wednesday evening and felt it.  No ill effects but because I (in the words of Damon Wayans as Major Payne) "might feel a lil' pressure" in the area of my twig and berries I have lost confidence in my current plate cup, a Shock Doctor Titan Flex metal cup with rubber padding on edges.

I actually laughed out loud when it hit as it was a loud pop sound and I then heard the 3B coach for home team, the batter, the catcher and pitcher ,among others, actually groan out loud when it hit me.  I didn't need a time out or anything although catcher tried to give me one and both coaches asked if I was okay more than once.  (Other cool fact, the catcher was from Japan, born and raised, and spoke perfect English as he had been learning since he was 3.)

Anyway, I have decided to take the Nutty Buddy plunge and was wondering if I really need their jockstrap? I currently wear UnderArmour jockstrap that I wear over UA boxerjock drawers and then cover with Nike or UA full length tights then place the McDavid HexPad Shorts over that.  (I know, probably overkill but I like to be able to run at full speed and sore nuggets or severely bruised inner thighs interfere with my blazing middle-aged white guy speed)

*Sorry Jeff, I did not do a search first.  I read almost every post on this site and do not remember a discussion about the jockstrap option or other jockstraps and their ability to fit a Nutty Buddy into their pocket .

Thanks Rolo but oh, HELL NO!   No pics of you in your underwear.  TMI, TMI.....

I have three UA Jockstraps now.  Don't want to have to buy another one.

As a nutty buddy wearer It is my belief that you can wear it without the strap just wear your tights and slide nutty buddy underneath and it should be good to go. Yes the nutty buddy comes with a jock Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I have (about) the same question.  I do wear the NB jock, but it's awful -- the waist strap is too thin and not stretch enough.  I'd love to wear it with a different jock.  And, no, I wouldn't trust it to be worn just under the compression shorts / tights.

Dave, ... the difference is ....you know better, and ...you didn't' find it because the info you're looking for is buried within other threads I believe. :D

The NB Jock doesn't have a cup "pocket" like traditional jocks do.  Since the main idea behind the NB is that it "floats" in place, the NB jock is a garment you put over your leggings/compression shorts.  Then the NB itself sits between the compression material and the NB jock.

With that said, I would think any jock would serve this purpose, but just don't try to slip the NB in the cup pocket.

Works great for me.

The answer is yes but, don't use the cup pocket.

I went ahead and asked NuttyBuddy. Here is the reply:

Dave,

The jockstraps we sell actually do not have a pouch for the cup. When wearing the NuttyBuddy with a jock, you want to slide the jock on over a pair of shorts, and slide the cup between the two. The jock will be snug against your shorts and will form a pocket against your shorts. This allows the cup to stay in place while still allowing the cup to “float†with the movement of your body.

We always recommend our jocks due to the unique shape of the NuttyBuddy, but it should work fine with other jocks as long as you don’t use the cup pocket.

Hope this make sense, any questions please let me know.

Thank you for your support of our products.

I have three jockstraps already. Don't want to pay for another one if I don't need to.

Thanks.

Been wearing my NB all season between long tight leggins and my McDavid Hexpads.  The McDavids hold the NB in place fine for me.

Good one,  Trophy size.  I can't stop laughing.  More like thimble size.  It should fit easily.  LOL

If you don't like the NB jock or want something less expensive, Bike sells a good jock that works nicely with the NB which I've used for a few years. It has a 2 in waist band and moisture wicking material. I also like the "stretchiness" of the jock material which holds the NB cup in place very well.

Here's one vendor:    http://www.barenecessities.com/bike-performance-jock-strap-basp17_product.htm?pf_id=BikeBASP17&search=e

@Majordave, this is exactly how I wear my new NB. They are correct in that it WILL float as you move. The NB will not fit in my Smitty compression shorts. About to start another weekend tourny, I will suit up with it again tonight.

Thanks guys. Gonna pull the trigger on cup only, youth thimble size tonight. Hahaha

Battle Sports, which makes the Nutty Buddy, also makes these compression shorts for the Nutty Buddy with a cup pocket. I'm planning on buying a few pair myself for this season as I really dislike the NB jock. I seem to recall reading a post someone made on the compression shorts and saying they worked fine with the NB.

I have the compression shorts NB makes very good at keeping the cup in place, if you do buy them note the shorts run about 1/2 a size small think about that before ordering.

@Majordave...

Before the NB, I used an UnderArmour personal protector that came with their compression sliders. I then got a set of Nike Pro Combat compression sliders as a second set. The cup fit in both.

I was considering getting a NB when at a tournament, I must have left behind that UA cup in a bathroom stall, and didn't notice it until I unloaded my gear at home. Well, no point in going back to get it – I immediately called Battle Sports and rush ordered a NB. I didn't get anything else because I had convinced myself it was going to fit into the compression sliders I had...

It doesn't in the UnderArmours. Not... at... all. It's like they took that banana-shaped cup and stitched the shorts around it when they made them. Miffed, I then tried it in the Nikes, and it works! Quite well, actually. Dust some talcum powder or a shot of Gold Bond Dry Spray in there, and you're in business.

Now, I'm pretty sure Nike makes full-length (or knee length, at least) compression sliders with pocket for baseball. I was really hoping to find their Pro Combat football compression shorts, complete with thigh pads, with a pocket, but they don't. You'd think that strange, but I remember, I didn't bother to wear a cup for football either (speed-skill position, really chafing-ly tough to), so I guess most football players go sans protection these days. No wonder they bash their heads in.

I'd agree with @Hawkman, and consider the compression shorts Battle offers. Me, I already snatched up 4 additional sets of Nike Pro Combat sliders that I found on clearance sale at The Sports Authority and Dick's (how appropriate) Sporting Goods.

Thanks Max and others

I have three, count 'em three UnderArmour jocks. I wear underarmour boxer jocks. My plan is to put NB cuo between undies and jock. Then wear full length tights over that rig. I have Nike pro combat and UnderArmour.

I gave up on tights with cuo pockets. Too much movement. Always felt like I was gonna have one of my boys cut off like a guillotine if I took a shot when things were out of alignment.

You could sell 'em on eBay or through your blog/site. These people called "CamGirls" or "Adult Entertainers" sell their undergarments all the time, to great profit! You're entertaining, aren't you? I'm sure you have a bunch of umpire groupies. :D

Ah, the stuff you find on this Internet thing. ;)

Might do that. I once sold a twenty-nine year old pair of army jump boots I wore when I served on ebay for $98. It's all about the marketing. 😊

I have an NB. I have to say get the jock.

You want the NB to be as snug to the body as you can -- avoid any sort of pocket or protection that has the cup "floating."

I was never a jock person -- always hated them -- but the NB hammock is really non-obtrusive. I put them over my boxers, under my compression pants, and it's great. I highly recommend. One thing I'd suggest: Buy a few sizes up. They run really small.

I had my first NB cup up until last season and used a generic supporter. The rubber trim around the edges fell off after a season or so but I taped it back on and made it work for a few more years. I got a new NB cup last year and got their jock this time. It works fine but the material is thin and the cup wore a hole in it after just a few months. I contacted Ump Attire and they wouldn't do anything for me and told me to contact Battle about it. I sent them a couple emails with no response. The cup works fine but the jock is junk. Just use one you already have and don't put it in the pocket.

I'm done buying anything from Nutty Buddy, and probably Ump Attire too. This deal along with a price match issue has turned me off of them.

I used the NB a couple years ago, I hated it. Yes, I wore it correctly but my build just didn't seem to fit the thing. Every time I would lock in the cup would ride up and not stay down where I needed it to be. I have since gone back to my regular XO cup. I experimented with a couple different set ups and found just setting the cup under my UA jock over my compression shorts keeps it where it needs to be, all game long. To each his own I guess...product just didn't work for me.
