I just bought Chris Hickman's used Mizuno Japanese Plate shoes. Pretty great shoe. Low cut but still nice. Real leather. He sold them to finance his newer model of Mizuno Plate Shoe. They are the real deal. He sent me pics. I called dibs when he wants to sell them.

At $259 for the new ones a bit cost prohibitive for many. However, if anyone at Mizuno marketing is listening......they are a huge player in baseball equipment for players and coaches here. Maybe they could fill a niche in umpire market if we could get the price down a bit. Just a thought.

Those were some wicked nice looking shoes; if they were my size I would have grabbed them before you!

Those are Chris' new ones. Older ones look a bit different but still cool. See pics in Chris' for sale post.

They are both wicked cool. All the umpire sneakerheads say "Aww, he got the Velcro"!

Low cut, steel toe, Velcro closure, real leather, spongy and supportive insole, grippy turf sole.

Hahaha. I do but I'll stop now. A young white rapper is bad enough. No one wants to see a white middle aged one.

@johnnyg08 I found another eBay listing for the new ones with more sizes, a lower price, and better pictures: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Mizuno-PRO-Japan-Baseball-Softball-Umpire-Shoes-Black-2KU820-/221351383137

If they weren't nearly $350 to get them to my door, I'd be in on them no problem. They look much easier to move around in than my NBs as well.

You can get the Avenger shoes for $84.95 @ www.onlineshoes.com. They have a promo of $30 off over $100 that ends today.

@gnhbua93, I think you're indicating these, right?: http://www.onlineshoes.com/avenger-search

These are a bit pricier, but they do have the metatarsal guard, and look _alot_ like older NB MU450's: http://www.onlineshoes.com/mens-avenger-safety-footwear-7322-black-p_id380224

I'm going to start nicknaming @Tksjewelry "Littlefoot" (ala The Land Before Time).

Those Avengers / Nautilus (they look the same) is actually a pretty decent looking shoe/boot, however, ... it looks to be primarily a matte material being tough to 'shine' ...

Don't need to be shiny just clean!

LOL ...

I disagree.  Matte doesn't cut it

Liquid kiwi black followed by a rub with a piece of nylon hose (like a shoe store try on footie) the a shot of aqua net hairspray will put a pretty darn good shine on any black shoe.

Just how many "nylons" do you have?

Several. @Majordave wears them over his head when he boosts umpire gear from local sporting goods stores. ;)

It has been decades since I've worn industrial-style safety boots, which, as I recall, were heavy and inflexible, so not good for running. But perhaps this latest generation of work boot is an improvement. If someone has them or has information about them, what do the Avengers weigh and are they at least a little flexible?

For ya'lls information, seals, special Intel and special forces wear panty hose in cold climates. Keep them warm and stays the chafing. Now, if they're the fancy lacy type, then your on your own there @Majordave
