I was looking at my brand new sets of Honig's polywools and I noticed something interesting, the "DRY CLEAN ONLY" tag is gone and the the new tag says "Machine Wash Warm, Dry Medium. Iron Medium".

I thought this was interesting, especially since many have been complaining that the downfall of the polywools was the recommended dry clean only, evidently they changed.

On a related note..... Th Honig's plate coat also is machine washable. I noticed it on my tag the other day. So I gave it a shot.... What do you know it washed flawlessly

Have always washed my polywools on cold, dried warm and ironed hot. Be careful with the ironing.

Cold was hang dry with the hangers that clamp them at the feet.

When did you get your polywools t-rav. I purchased mine in August and they still have the dry clean only tag.

I just got a base and plate last week and then Tuesday I went back and picked up another set but they were out of 32's base, so I am getting them shipped.

The two plates have the new cleaning instructions but the base still has the dry clean only tag, when the other one base arrives, I'll look. If it makes any difference they are all PBS2-12 or PBS1-12 on the tag.

Hopefully this will give the non polywool users an incentive to switch.

I have only drycleaned my plate polywools once and have always washed them, without issue.

Ive always washed on gentle, cold water with Woolite.  My 2007 polywools (thats the numbers on the tag, the year they were made) still look great.

I noticed the new machine wash instructions on my poly wools I bought in December 2012 as well.

The PBS1 and PBS2 are the model numbers -- one meansd base and the other means plate.  The 12 is the year.

I did notice that on the Honig's website, their product description for poly-wools still says, in big capital letters, DRY CLEAN ONLY. If they're  "officially" machine washable now, to me that would be a selling point to note.

The "dry clean only" thing was what kept me from springing for these pants. I can't imagine not cleaning my pants between wearings, especially in the summer. The layer of dust you might get is reason enough alone to clean them, not to mention the sweat saturation. No way am I wearing those pants again without them being cleaned! Taking them to a dry cleaner between every game just isn't a practical or workable solution.

My 2013 Honigs's Plate coat says 'Dry Clean Only'...definitely will be following those instructions, even if it cost.

Not surprised with this they have a terrible website.

I wouldnt dare wash a plate coat either!

I wash my poly-wools on cold water and iron them while wet.  This is an old dry cleaner trick for dress shirts & dress pants - wash them, press them while they're wet, then hang dry to let them "cure".  I tried it on my pants and it works great.  No damage from ironing and they look sharp/crisp every time.

Trust me.... I have washed both of my plate coats several times this season. No issues.

Fittske,

When doing Polywools, .... do you use regular laundry soap, or Woolite?  Obviously cold, gentle cycles all around , but ...

Here's a couple of disturbing things I've noticed, when machine washing my older polywools. First, I wash them inside out, to make sure any abuse happens in the inside. I've seen a lot more fraying of the threads, that will lead to eventual wear.

Also, when I machine dry them, there's gray lint in the lint screen. That's material being lost from my drawers, and not good.

I've got six pair. Three that I dry clean, for special occasions. One that machine wash and dry, and two that I machine wash, and hang dry.

Do you think that's not being lost at the dry cleaners?

Maybe, but I don't see it, so I sleep better at night.

I am not going to wash my Poly Wools or my plate coat. If my pants are dirty I will just switch to the GD's until the cleaners gets finished the next day.
