Hello guys, I'm from Puerto Rico and I'm planning to buy some new equipment, what CP you guys recommend? I'm 6'1. What mask? For the shoes I'm a reebok fan but what about the new NB plate and base shoes? What about ball bags? And pants if you guys can make a list or something for me about what it should be best and also what ump school should I attend on 2014?

First of all Welcome!!

I hate to hit you with this, but ....  please go the equipment forum and do a SEARCH.  All of this info has been discussed here ad nauseam.  You can search for each individual question (recommended) and trust me when I say, you will find a TON of information that will keep you reading for quite some time.

2. Looking at your Signature You have everything you need. So why ask?

_{How often do you need to wear a Thermabase in Puerto Rico?? as for the rest of your equip i think you have everything you need. if you go to school though id prob add some poly wools to the rotation. as far as what school to go to there is plenty of info but my heres my  if your going for PBUC or your work schedule is tight go with the shorter 4 week TUS which is run by the same instructors who run PBUC. if your going for general improvement as an umpire, and your schedule allows go with the longer 5 week Wendelstedt school. its instructors are MLB umpires who are usually more than willing to share war stories and some laughs. YMMV}

Well, the hat was a gift from My uncle which Joe West gave it to him, I wear windbreakers 'cause of the weather in the central part of the island and I find them more comfortable, also I want to upgrade the equipment that I have cause of the wear of my shoes. My apologies if I disrespected somebody with the MLB cap.

CP - WVG, WVP, Douglas, All Star System 7

Shins - WVG (the ones you have)

Mask - depends on your budget, but most MLB umps wear Dyna Lite

Shoes - Reebok Zigs (base and plate) or NB are excellent

Pants - ditch the smitty. Get UA or Honig's polywools, or GDs

Hats - Richardson fitted

Ball Bags - UA Ultimate (great bags!)

Masks you need to figure out how important weight is and how much you are willing to spend. There are a lot of good choices out there.

 

With Chest Protectors, I'd definitely go with a hard shell. Gold, Platinum, Douglas, or All-Star . Read about each here and figure out what you think would work best for you. 

 

Ball Bags I'm Partial to the Ump-Attire.com Ultimate XL ball bags

 

Pants, I personally use some Smitty's for rec games and bad weather days. I use my Ump-Attire Poly-Wools for important games.

Ive been reading about the masks, the dynalite or the titanium, Im on 3 & 2 on that decision, about the pants Ill be getting the UA poly wools, I dont know about changing from reeboks base to NB but the reeboks zigs only come on D width! I got some reading to do about the schools

I had one. It was heavy. No built in TG, so the spider TG is a must. Very expensive. Sevveral MLBUs wear Mizuno as well. I recommend start off buying a Wilson Dyna Lite. They're a bit heavy, but offer excellent protection at around $50. if not the WDL, the All Star FM25. Lighter by far than the WDL, proven protection, and Academy sells them for around $30. Whatever frame you choose, load it with TW pads ($40 on www.ump-attire.com ). I won't wear any other pads. Period.

Don't be ga ga over the mizuno. It's really not that special of a frame plus it's super expensive. Save your $$.
