Hopefully you have been working out in the gym already to get into shape.

Hydrate and make sure you eat to keep your energy level up.

This needs to start the day before.

Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate!!!!!!

I didn't do enough of this before the ONE game I had Saturday (85°) and paid for it later on by feeling like crap.

Stretch out - I am still sore two days later, because I didn't do this.

I know I know better, but being my first game of the year, of course I didn't do the things I should have to make it easier on my body - that mistake won't happen again this year. We'll see if I manage to remember when next season rolls around.

Another tip we used to do (if you aren't currently doing it) is have the morning guy do two games behind the plate on Saturday. This usually allows one guy to get two games out during the cooler morning hours, and makes there only be one game in the heat (if it does get too hot).

Besides hydrate and limber up have a good diet those days. Avoid the sugary and greasy foods. Eat some good carbs & protein Take a banana to the game for a between game snack.

Oh yeah and be sure to get your rest and recuperation time too. "Sorry honey, cant mow the lawn I really need to recuperate form today's games and be ready for tomorrows."

Screw that, mowing the lawn used to be the only time I could get away from my fiance!

Definitely bring fresh socks and undershirts. You wouldn't think it'd make that big a difference but it really does. And everyone else is right; hydrate. Start the day before at the absolute latest.

She is a good woman. When she went into labor with our first son she woke me up in the middle of the night to tell me. I go to get up and she says we have plenty of time, to go back to sleep, she would let me know. She wakes me again about 6:30 and says it's time. I again get ready to go, she says go ahead and take a shower and she made me a thermos of coffee to take with me. Now you got to keep a woman like that.

Alas, I had my Sunday games canx last night. I'm kind of bummed about that.

Yeah I got one of them. I woke up to go to work (2 hour commute). She says "I'm in labor." I'm ready to jump into action. No, I'll let you know, just don't go into the office. I went back to sleep. 2 hours later she wakes me and says, "you can shower now."

She won't do the lawn though.
