  1. If I were the TD...I would tell the teams, "Great idea...but its not going to fly today. Now get out there and play some baseball or go home." You have to protect the field.
  2. Are the must slide rule modifications still illegal in sanctioned LL?
  3. Must be nice...I haven't even had the weather nor the time in the last 2 months to consider playing golf let alone ball games, other than basketball. With all the rain we've got lately, fields will lucky to not be mud when the HS seasons start, let alone scrimmages.
  4. Fed..run scores, assuming the runner was safe, and nothing is done to the batter. Batter has the right to the box unless she moved and reestablished position.
  5. Notice I said NFHS SB. The BR-Runner rule has 10 sections in softball. Dont have the BB book on me.
  6. NFHS bags has to be secured so there is no movable base rule.8-8-14 is your closest bet, the base if dislodged is considered to follow the runner and the runner is protected unless they try to advance. So unless something else about the slide other than going farther than normal that is illegal occurs, or judge that the runner intentionally interferes, its legal. Best way to judge if they tried to take out the fielder behind is if they hit the dirt within 2 foot or so of the bag. Go to a field where there are fixed bags and after a game, you'll see the slide marks in the dirt starting at least 4 feet from the bag. Rule 8-8-14 NFHS SB Runner is not out: The runner slides into a base and dislodges it from its proper position. The base is considered to have followed the runner.
  7. Have a change in undershirts as well.
  8. Basketball you do get a bit more leeway with something like that with the ability to issue a T however you could issue a flagrant T and he would of been gone. You really dont have much of a punishment in BB/SB than EJ, whereas in basketball the T gets the message across, usually, and things clear up.
  9. Then what is the LL no head first slide rule?:HS
  10. Nothing in the rules says anything about the umpire "seeing". Nor would I as other have said tell a complaining coach that I heard it. On a side note...I actually had this in a coach pitch game. Called it and braced for a storm that never came as none of the coaches or parents would even know there was a such a thing. Then again...I didn't think it was possible at that level as most of the catchers are hugging the backstop except that one.
  11. I dont think it is possible...if it was the pitcher is throwing over 100mph, the batter would have to be trying to steal 1B instead of hitting and the catcher has a very sore hand.
  12. No...she recommends *cough*relations*cough* with animals rather than eating wearing them. Back to the topic...the only objection to the coves would be if they made the handle flush with the knob, and most of the ones I have seen do not.
  13. You probably could of called an illegal slide and got the same result minus the EJ. Only had that call once would love to not have to make it or contemplate it again.
  14. Second baseman straddling 2B waiting on a throw with a runner on 1B. BU thinks its illegal and tells her not to do that. Same player straddling the bag an inning or so later, BU tosses. That is still a standing headache in our rec league. Its a rather dysfunctional league. I still cant get over them allowing 2 5/8 bats for LL. That and they like rules for which there are no penalties.
  15. I see it more in basketball than in BB/SB as things to tend to get more emotional in basketball because of how the game is is played anymore, fast and sloppy. Do hate to toss a 9 yo but it happens...gave him a "T' in basketball for screaming "Foul you idiot" then in baseball I tossed him when he lit a catcher up when he was out by 6 steps. BTW you can also be restricted to the bench for being a second offender of one of a few provisions after being warned, player involved and head coach gets to stay in the dugout. in Fed FP
