This may be a dumb question but if I don't know there is probably others that don't either.

What color undershirts are you supposed to wear with the different color shirts?

I normally wear Navy with any shirt.

Is there a standard? Thanks

most umpires wear the color which is the last color on your sleeve..

Black.. white or Black undershirt

Cream...black.

Polo blue.. black

Navy...red or navy ( i will never wear red..LOL)

I do wear red with navy and polo(when I wear the one with RWB trim, not navy trim), but really that's only because I have a plethora of red shirts left over from college. In a higher level game I wear navy. Black with black, red or navy with white (RWB trim), and black with cream. I don't think Leland has any set guidelines for it though...you know him lol. :banghead:

Yeah Leland is pretty lax. Some of the stuff I see umps wear (not my partners, I am usually solo) are horrible. If I do have a partner I make sure we both look good.

I am ashamed to say that When I started back with umpiring last fall I would wear my hat backwards. :banghead: Thats how we did it in the old days!

One of the umps told me we don't do that anymore. So I don't. I did see one guy with the hat backwards a couple of days ago.

Ripper I believe you where there that day. Your partner told me. I haven't seen him this season. Is he still around?

My baseball asscociation requires red with navy, navy with powder blue. My ASA asscociation says we don't need a t-shirt but if we do it's white with powder blue, however, I always wear a t-shirt

I always wear a t-shirt with combinations given above. I never wear UA or any other wicking appearel.

Dark Blue=red or blue

Cream=black

Black=black

Polo=black

Powder=blue

In high school, I've seen navy and red undershirts. I wear navy to the field, but have a red shirt on a hanger. If my partner shows up with red, I switch to red.

Both colors are acceptable, and I'd prefer we match.

:BD: Hahaha yes I was there. I haven't seen Jose around this spring, but he was my partner all last fall at Ft. Caroline...He was not too popular with the coaches, I know that much. I didn't have a problem with him, thought he was a pretty good umpire. How'd you know it was me? Did I still have that scared rookie look? lol

This is the Canadian standard for provincial. The National standard is Red with Black shirt or Navy with powder blue shirt.

Leave it to the Canadians to put a red t-shirt under a black shirt. I have never tried a white under the black but I am told it's pretty sharp.

The white mock neck looks great mike!

I find myself hating to wear the navy anymore...black and Polo are my favorites

OHSAA here...you are wearing red as an undershirt and if you are seen in tournaments with a different colored undershirt poking out...you will be talked about the next 3 years at the State rules meeting. And no long sleeve undershirts unless you have the jacket on.

Luckily we can wear whatever shirt we want as long as we match. A few guy have grey, red and white. I stay away from them but I do like the grey.

I'm a little surprised no-one's given Jax the real answer.

Check with your association.

Some of what's been mentioned are indeed standards, but standards can differ. For instance, in my LL association, they want black under the Light (or 'Polo') Blue; in my semi-pro association, they want Navy under that color.

So - check with whatever association you work with; they should have guidelines for you.

Got there is no standard answer. Check with our own association.

Thanks for the answers they all make sense.

Paperipper: Has Leland mention any preferences to you?

Posted

My association says navy or red w/ a navy shirt and black or white with Powder Blue.

If you want everybody to dress the same, why give options? Drives me nuts.

I'm not a big fan of white undershirts under black jersey. But I do like the white mock under a black jacket.

Some MLB guys are wearing NO under shirts under their black shirts on the bases. The HORROR!

That's so they can show off their neck bling. :cheers:

see and I think that one looks the best. the White mock under the black shirt

Or all three guys on the bases will have different colored undershirts. Saw one guy wearing a powder undershirt.

That's Gibson's calling card if I'm not mistaken.

That guy is a nut.

Sure enough.

U1 for Jays - Rangers ... GG

Powder blue undershirt? :rollinglaugh:
