Very good, Brian. I wish I possesed your thought process

I feel your pain Jax. I went to the Open a few years back and a big obnoxious drunk guy in a tank top and cut-offs was heckling some of the lesser known players. A guy standing near us looked him dead in the eye and said, "Hey bud, this is the US Open, not the WWE!!! Loved it! Put big ugly right in his place. Disclaimer: I have not, nor will I ever, be accused of not enjoying a beer or two... or 6 or ...12...or a fine bourbon...especially Grand Reserve...and 1732...well, Knob Creek also...and the new Jim Beam Red Stag is an interesting change from the norm...but anyway, all things at the appropriate times.

LL rules did allow this a couple years ago but it was taken out after only one season...maybe he needs a new book!

Thanks for sharing. Gratitude is something we almost never get.

Oh my!!! Number one, he shoulda been in his car and pulling out as soon as he "ran out and started freakin" about the ball hitting the batter. You gave way too many warnings that you did not enforce. Then to top it off you stuck around and watched another game! What did you think was going to happen? He saw you talking to another umpire and immidiately thought that you were telling your buddy all about the game and what a jerk the coach was. You may or may not have been, but thats not the point, that's what he thought. And then you yell at him in the parking lot with "40 people watching"? Should have known better Blue. There are 6 games going on in this park and I guarantee other coaches parents and player heard and saw this tirade. Your professionalism and integrity may be in question now. If and when you get this team again this guy is going to walk all over you because he knows he can get away with it. You got to man up, do the game without reference to this situation and dump his a$$ if he acts like this again, but don't go gunning for him. A good buddy of mine, when I first started umpiring, told me to find a parking spot close to the exit and back in so you can leave quickly if needed. This is a perfect example where it was needed. Hope you learned from this experience...good luck

Did the principal take the American Flag down from in front of the school on May 5th? NO!!!??? Well suspend him without pay til he takes it down and puts up a Mexican Flag so as to extinguish this "incindiary" situation. Press 1

My darling wife was in attendence at my game tonite camped out behind the backstop. As I was brushing the plate she says to the person next to her "He cleans that better than anything at home" Gotta love her...:banghead:

Actually I feel as though I'm right where I need to be. I see the whole plate. got a good view of the zone. I'm definately not right behind the batter. I'm in the slot

The perfect storm of umpire-specific hilarity

I'm lucky if I get to hear all those in two weeks, you got 'em all in one game. You should be honored!!! Me, I'd have pi$$ed myself laughing -
Ukce and Kwiggie, Thanks for noticing my error you're right, I got it bass ackwards. My right toe, his left heel, reverse for LH batter. Sorry for the bad advice. Dawg... please don't set up outside the catcher!!!! Thanks also to Warren for the "never never never" I was rushing because I had to go meet my daughter at the bus stop and my head and fingers weren't in sync...not the best excuse, but the only one I got
-
I use the catcher as a guide. RH batter. My left toe at his right heel (or in the area) my feet a little better than shoulder width apart. This is of course using Davis Stance. You will feel a little bit exposed at first but you'll get used to it and it will give a great view of the zone

Couple a years ago I was having my pre-game with my partner in the parking lot while getting ready to do the plate. My wife took the car to the store as my partner and I went down to the field. During plate meeting I realize, "Oh $hit, my mask is not under my arm!!!" Embarassed, I look at my partner after meeting and ask if he's got his mask. He chuckles and says "This is the mask I've been using since I was a catcher" It doesn't fit, frame is too shallow and so I had to (gasp!) turn my hat around. The fit was so bad I had to hold it to my face. Broken knuckles versus broken jaw was my reasoning. Between innings I borrowed a cell phone from a spectator, who I knew, and called the Mrs. Luckily, she wasn't far but I still had to do another half inning with this mask and being that I made a phone call between innings, now the spectators knew the deal. I got a few comments and heckles from the stands for it but they were all in good fun. Finally the most glorious sight. The love of my life standing by the dugout, mask in hand. Btw... this was the first and last time I ever borrowed equipment. Rest of the game went fine aside from a coach, after a call did not go his way, joked, "Hey Chris, why don't you put the other mask back on?!?" Everyone got one more laugh at my expense.

Sounds like a fine line, Warren. An argument could be made if he just drops the bat on the line. HTBT situation for me. If no one is chirping you must be doing somthing right.
-
The lower the level of play, the dumber the coaches. However, at that level of play everyone in the stands are "experts" at coaching and officiating...so ya got that goin for you :wow:

I've done 5 in a day at Babe Ruth level and did not feel too bad. Did 6 LL minor tourny games solo in a day...never again

Ever seen, heard or had this happen?

I hope you guys don't make fun of me just cause I wear my shin guards on the outside of my pants -
We've all been there. Let it go. You kicked a call, coaches chirped (you had to expect that) but it's over now. The way I would deal with it is to just do your games this week as if it never happened. Do what you feel comfortable doing. Wanna do the dish tomorrow, do it, ask your partner, maybe he wants it. If you keep worrying about it, your confidence will go first, then your performance. I know this is easier said then done, but you gotta try, starting now...

I'm with you...please God, once, just once let me say it!:shakehead:

Does any one think that its even stranger that her ex-husband was with her on her way to her boyfriend's while shaving her junk? -
Hopefully he stays grounded and keeps his cool. If he can do that he'll go places.

As far as MLB Buehrle has it so far. Post this thread at the All-Star break and again in September. We still got like 158 games left per team. In July and September we'll get some great vids posted

What sarcasm? If you are saying that I would say "Thanks for coming coach" I would not. Maybe I'm not understanding you
