douchebaggery I heard of an umpire's room getting hit during a tournament and all the gear of the BUs were taken. It was a softball tournment but it sucks all the same. Sorry to hear about your losses guys.

Rain, rain, rain....and a misdirected parent

Only once in my time as an umpire have I worked on a field, and that was at the request of the tournament director, and he paid extra for the work that we did have to do. -
Brandon, Welcome to UE!

I think it would make sense to ask for it to be removed if it was distracting you.

Prior to my stint here, I used to check for the issues on the pitcher. Now, I just wait for the complaint. Last Friday the complaint came about the batter's glove flapping in the back pocket.

I would have a hard time living with myself if a kid got hit in the head on a quick pitch. Lord knows I've had enough hit in the head while they are looking. Had an 18U College Showcase game where a "kid" ( a kid that was an F2 that towered over me) took one in the head and he was done for the tournament. He said he was ok the next day, but I was worried about him as the pitch was approaching 90 mph. The only time I have kids do the "stay in the box" part are the lower level rec games where you can tell the kid hasn't played and they don't even move from their stance between pitches. Oh to not have those types in the box.

We had so much rain earlier in the year. Now, some of the fields could use it. I have had some absolute dust bowls lately. -
When the batter can safely see what is coming and be able to react.

Freddie Freeman's apprentice in Missouri? -
You don't have to actually be interested. Just look like you are listening.

The only place I have seen the dugout change is at CDP.

I had a Champro dealer order a Champro version for me and I got it at $85 plus tax and I went to their store to pick it up. It has the separate compartments as well. Granted it is more than you are looking to spend, but I haven't seen many used ones hit the market, and I was actively looking.

The first hat I got while umpiring was a pro mesh type. It now looks almost purple but didn't notice any temperature difference. I now wear it when I don't give a crap....aka slow pitch softball.

If you bought RS stuff I would never let you hear the end of it

Paul from week 1 lives up there. He was Luther's crew chief last year so I can get his info if you want it. heck for that matter Keith is from that area too

pass the plate and he/she is out

I have, but it is for football.

congrats on the championship plate One of these years I may be able to do more than one week, but likely when my kids are older. Field 6 definitely floods in right field and center to a lesser degree.

As much as I love baseball, I don't go to CDP for the baseball. It's for the umpires.

I'm seeing this going back to at least 2009. The hat has to be on straight though.

SWMBO........The Foul Ball Saga........
ZebraStripes replied to Aging_Arbiter's topic in Off-Topic/Funny Stories
Coach Lou would be cringing for 7 or 8 balls missing up at CDP. But the kid could be a lock for getting the pins for returning foul balls to Opps. -
look at some of the weekly pictures and you will see all sorts of different looking colors for CDP shirts

Nasty looking crash. Continue to heal up. I drive 80 in a 70 as a norm. I have a knack for getting speeding tickets every 4 or 5 years, and seeing that my last one was in 2010 I better take notice. I guess on the bright side is I'm using a speed governed key for the Mustang right now that limits it to 80 mph. If I find my key it will go back to ungoverned. Take care of the coconut. Concussions are not fun. Things like that make you want to have an in-car camera. I had someone's moronic movement with their car cause another car to spin out and crash into the cable barrier and they took off as quick as they could. I got the tag number and vehicle description and had enough info to blow the guys story out of the water for his insurance company.
