  1. You are only crazy for staying 4 weeks. I only spend the vacation for one. I'll work on a field with you anytime, @Umpirechick1
  2. leaving that ammonia on there will still eat the leather on the shoes
  3. @Umpirechick1 got stuck with me on her crew last year in week 1, so she had a bad crew. @wtompkins, I know this crazy umpire that is absolutely nuts that will be up there in week 4. Hangs out in the Peaches cabin.
  4. rinse the shoes after cleaning with scrubbing bubbles
  5. I call as many as 5 sports and called 300 games last year. I have called more than 1000 games in my career and I have never had a coach so much as touch me, much less punch me. If one did and I did not eject him, the other participants in that game may see me as a push over and escalate things in that game, or in a future game. You have already set precedent that you aren't going to eject for a punch thrown. No matter how weakly the punch is, or even if it doesn't connect, the person that attempted it is gone. No questions asked. I tossed a kid in a football game last year for throwing and missing a punch. Balls, strikes, safe, out, fair and foul are non-negotiable. The same can be said for throwing a punch.
  6. It doesn't matter. When you don't toss him, you have completely lost all credibility as an official of that game.
  7. You got punched and didn't eject? That's not going to help the next guy very much.
  8. Don't suck! I haven't had my first "varsity" game yet. But I would say just relax and do what you do.
  9. "I don't know if I want to argue with your so I can get ejected. I'm so tired." This is what my HT HC said after one of his players was called out at the plate to end the inning as he is walking back to the dugout. Back to back days with double headers, I can imagine he was tired.
  10. I don't remember the release being in there last year. It's possible that it was, but I think I will fill it out just to be safe and make Brad's job a little easier.
  11. It would be incredible to be able to go to the school.
  12. School ball, no. Rec and travel, yes. After some of the confrontations, I need to make sure I have the ability to call the police. Afterall, it was me that took the game away from their son's team. Never mind that they were down by 13 and the game ended when R2 clobbered F6 who was trying to field the ball and there were two outs.
  13. Rook screwed the pooch on this one. I'd be wanting to leave the runner at 2nd and send the batter to the dugout. I've never even thought about this one happening.
  14. I had a 12UAA Grand Slam Elimination game and had a bases loaded 2 out sitch and F1 bounced through the stop and I had to call it. It is what it is.
  15. Signal to my partner, but I don't announce unless asked. Haven't known any umpire to announce outs without being asked since I was playing slow pitch church league softball.
  16. One of my bunk mates never got back a new pair of Gerry Davis', Georgia is one of the heather holdouts.
  17. Make sure that they are actual umpire pants....and they stay up...or @Umpirechick1 will hear a story.
  18. no GHSA playoffs for you, young lady I've got a pair that are getting awfully light. Just bought another pair and will try to dye the other ones.
  19. Keep that filthy "s" word up there. The grass on the field I was on last night was gorgeous..
  20. You don't drive a pick up truck though... I sold mine too so I have no room to talk. And @clasonater, you should meet her husband and the redneck theme is complete, especially if he has on a sleeveless shirt.
  21. I had a wasp flying around me and the batter last night. Was tempted to ask the batter to borrow the bat and play bumblebee baseball with it.
  22. In (b), B2 is safe at first if he reaches first before the half-inning ends or before all infielders leave the diamond. He is out if he gives up by entering the bench or dugout area. what I was responding to of course it was a redneck term...cleaner than saying hauling ass.
  23. You put the target in the wrong place, Stuart.
  24. So if all of the infielders haul tail to the dugout, he is still out? Interesting.
  25. I wore Charcoal and Heather last year.
