  1. I don't think the GHSA would allow it.
  2. That's Mr. Blue to you, sir.
  3. Thank you, sir.
  4. 5'9" 240 lb
  5. I'm pondering getting yet another chest protector. Literally every high school umpire I called with this season had one or the other. The CP I have no is around 1.5" thick or more and combine that with a 48" chest and I look huge. I had been squatting down but have found myself doing more of the hands on the knees stance of late. Any ideas on which may be better for me to get a slightly thinner profile? F3 is not in the budget and I have taking a liking to the hard shell. Thanks.
  6. I came in as a rookie plate hog. I worked 5 games on the bases that first year.
  7. under no camera angle is that pitch to McGriff ever going to be remotely close to being a strike, If Maddux and Glavine ever got that generous of a zone, they'd have been up there going after Young himself.
  8. lol, Ausmus is really digging
  9. I'm judging him on the awful strike zone he had in the deciding game of the 1997 NLCS. Awful is putting it mildly. Look at the last pitch of the series. It was never even remotely close to being a strike. I am not judging him based on his size, just the size of his strike zone.
  10. uggg, Eric Gregg...

    Substituting

It may be a regional thing. I've heard of many a bean ball war with the Braves and it seldom had one at the head.

    Substituting

I've always heard bean ball as a synonym of hit by pitch, no matter where.
  13. I had a 14U DD game and I had 7 dropped third strikes in 4 innings for one team. Some down the middle. Some on the corner. Catcher "has been catching for five years" but can't catch a cold.
  14. Sportsmanship should be important in all games, not just Little League.

I am not a LL umpire and have never called a LL game. That said, with you having a CBO and the player changing defensive positions, unless you have some strange local rule, I think the umpire was in error in not permitting the defensive change. Sorry for the run-on sentence.

    Substituting

Given this LL 6 out rule, I'd say that the umpire was correct in not allowing the substitution at that point.
  17. It wasn't me!
  18. In softball that is correct. Not so in baseball.
  19. Look back is a pain in the butt because the players and coaches, and quite a few umpires don't understand. For baseball, that is fine. Not so much if you are calling softball.
  20. Where's his oatmeal? I'll piss in it if he isn't putting the ball back in play.
  21. In 1, R1 will be credited with a stolen base if R2 is not thrown out. Defensive indifference comes into play when the score is lopsided and the team that trails isn't being paid attention to. It's a judgement call by the official scorer.
  22. Disqus was set up differently than this. Thank you, Gil.
  23. no points on the discussion...hmmm and since I'm seriously negative in points now the point would help getting towards zero
