In Dizzy Dean, it is an out.

    Interfering

Runner left early on a steal? So we have really low level baseball or softball. If it is very low baseball that doesn't allow leading off, the runner should be out as soon as the pitch is released and a dead ball called. Same for softball.
  3. The umpire has to determine what, in their judgement, would have happened if the runner hadn't have stopped when dead ball was called.
  4. I put it in play every time.
  5. With your handle, I'm assuming you are here in Georgia. Purchase Officials has a place in Norcross that may have what you are needing. They don't have the full line that the Ohio store has but it has helped having a place to go get stuff at locally.
  6. The "starting" catcher that dropped 40% of the pitches said he has been catching for 5 years. "Yeah right. Were you this bad the other 4 years or am I just special?" was what I was thinking.
  7. Settling doesn't have to be stationary. The fielder has a bead on it. I am not protecting the fielder. I am protecting the base runners.
  8. Still doesn't prevent it from being judged to be an IFF.
  9. 14u rec game yesterday, starting catcher is moved to pitch (starter had dropped everything, but at least he got a glove on it), and then in a two batter sequence I take a fastball to the right forearm and a shot to the left shin guard that goes 1/4 the way back to the mound. Hey catch, you think you might want to get a glove on that?
  10. That's quite the feat. Never got one at a MLB game. My sister cost me one. I've gotten a few at a AAA game, multiple in the same game, but not quite the same.
  11. #12 can enter as a sub and she is no longer able to be a courtesy runner for the catcher.
  12. a leisurely paced back peddle is ordinary effort at most levels
  13. Here here on the idiot announcers part.
  14. @maven I literally just busted out laughing.
  15. you have got to be kidding me
  16. Which umpire "would not"? Ives is a coach.
  17. you would be wrong, and is is still an IFF at the High School or above level every time.

  19. that would be the slowest swing and follow through in history
  20. Here, they go together based on what was conveyed to our association as being from the state.

    balk?

5 or 6 feet in and couple of feet off could be in the general area of throwing directly to the base even if the player was in. I'm assuming a 2 man crew and that could be a difficult call for anyone not in the A position.
  22. You call a ball and keep the batter in the box? That will be tough to explain a 4-2 count and keeping him in the box
