@Umpirechick1 I intended to leave earlier, but I had to tend to some family things before going.

I got to CDP at 5:30 AM on Saturday. Then they woke me up to move my car around 6:30. Took me to the bunks and I went in and got an open bunk then had registration at 8:00 I think it was. This year, I'm not leaving Georgia at 3 PM. We are coming in Friday at some point.

Math was my best subject. Took Algebra I in the 8th, Geometry 9th, Algebra II 10th, Trigonometry 11th, and Calculus in 12th. I took 3 calculus classes in college and then took an algebra class to not take the 4th calculus class. Prof told me to just show up for tests. I killed the curve for the others. First test class average was a 36. And I was responsibile for bringing it up from a 32 with the only grade above a C.

I think they open at 8 AM on Saturday.

I also need to look for some shin guards. Mine are rusting.

Umpire Pet Peeves (edited old misspelling was driving me crazy)
ZebraStripes replied to UmpIowa's topic in Free For All
That's been my process of late. If I have to dig to find the plate I will call time. I have ignored most requests for time after a slide. The only thing I was granting time for this weekend on the bases was for an untied spike. -
As I am only a rec and travel ball umpire, I didn't think I had much of a case to correct a high school and college umpire. My no call was from BU.
-
I've gotten that on a few threads as well.

Umpire Pet Peeves (edited old misspelling was driving me crazy)

Reason I ask, I had play relaxed, didn't call time, came around and cleaned the plate, and look up after getting it clean to a runner streaking home. -
My partner called a balk on one like this over the weekend. F1 does an inside move and throws to a surprised F4 who was at double play depth. Fed rules.

OK guys, when cleaning the plate, call time or let the players play while cleaning the plate? -

As a result of this website, I have stopped doing that. I picked it up from umpires doing games while I was coaching and had never heard any different (That I remember) -
your eyes are wandering in the shower are they?

I'll be heading that way in two weeks!

So the little box thing shows the strike 1 was slightly low. It's still borderline. Harper ran his mouth. Williams ran his mouth. When told to get in the box, Harper acts like a primadonna and gets shown the door. Good ejection Marvin!

My shot from Saturday is now back to almost normal.

I do football and basketball. Though I have been getting baseball/softball into November.

Is it a balk if the pitcher alters his pitching motion to deceive the runner?
ZebraStripes replied to a question in Ask the Umpire
Not enough information -
The "teach" when running, the U-turn is not the fastest way to change directions. It is much quicker to come to a stop and reverse course. In a rundown quick is only part of the equation along with smart. The time saved by stopping and running the other way would be the smart play here.

That reminds me, we had a visiting varsity football team ask one of our crews to toss their QBs dad.
-
My second year I had a particularly obnoxious fan...and I tossed them. They left.
-
rant away, each team needs a catcher competent enough, and smart enough to try to receive each pitch that is in the direction of the umpire
-
I despise it because these jackwagons aren't even coaching them on how to slide. More than once I have had the kid get hurt on a slide into home...and the ball is in the outfield.
