  1. don't allow it to knock some sense into you....use your sense before hand?
  2. You don't want to open Pandora's box on that one. The batter can get an idea of where the catcher is set up by just listening to him move.
  3. The closest I have come to being hit was a coach pitch game before I had any training on it and had an "umpire down" to avoid it.
  4. Rec season starts.... all of our spring seasons are coming to an end so it just sounds weird that a season is starting. It was 90 degrees here yesterday so I forget that some of you are in a much colder area.
  5. Marvin is a Georgia boy and we do tend to do some serious sweating being from down here.
  6. I raise my hands up some when sliding to keep from jamming them or getting them stepped on around the bag...not to hinder or confuse, but to reduce the risk of my injury. And you will also see a batting glove in each hand.
  7. starts?
  8. Police officers, even when off duty, can still perform the duties of a police officer. ( So no, a cop does not stop being a cop. ) Off duty police officers do wear their uniform when performing security. I understand that while coaching he is not performing his duty as an officer. I would, however, hold him to a higher standard of discipline as a coach while he is in his uniform. There would not be the problem coach that you are expecting based on reputation. A real judge does not wear a robe outside of the courtroom, and I have done basketball games with a judge as an AC. He didn't take advantage of the fact that he knows me from work and I was not intimidated by him being there, but I do see that it is a different situation than a police officer.
  9. I'll give it a shot
  10. which base was missed?
  11. A friend of mine that is low on funds doesn't have plate or combo pants and I am looking to see if I can find someone that has some used ones that they could donate or I could get at a low cost for him. 34" waist and 34-36" length Thanks everyone
  12. If I remember correctly a police officer is not able to just leave their service belt in their car. I have no issue with the coach being in uniform with service belt and weapon. I work around these guys daily and I'm not going to feel nervous with them having a weapon on them. Dump him the same as I would any other coach. I may be a unique case do to the uniqueness of where I do work.
  13. wearing a balloon and calling a balk on a catcher after a coach talked him into it? smh
  14. F6 would have had to have a rocket up his butt to have fielded the ball. F5 should have caught the liner but didn't react quick enough. One step and he would have gloved it. F6 had been holding the runner, strange with a right hander batting. R2 had a huge lead due to F1 never looking back that way. First time I've ever had one past a fielder to even wonder if I got something right on this one. The next game the R2 was hit in the foot in front of F6 so it was a no doubter.
  15. R2 1 out. F5 playing in for possible bunt. BR lines the ball past F5 into R2's foot. F6 was not in position to make a play on the ball. What should have been the call in Fed? What should have been the call in OBR?
  16. the equipment toss had nothing to do with this ejection, you can be tossed for it at times,
  17. Dropped him like a sack of potatoes. All together now "There's no place like the slot! There's no place like the slot!"
  18. Context is the forum she posted in. J, we already knew you were crazy, but you are proving it now....I keeed I keeeed I can only burn one week of vacation on it...well 6 days worth
  19. good deal
  20. Fast-Pitch softball rules don't vary from baseball if they allow a dropped third (younger levels, as is the case in baseball, do not have an uncaught third strike rule).
  21. Iron sharpens iron. So he's been doing this for ten years? Does he not think that he could get any better? In no way, shape, form or fashion did the batter in the video commit a batter interference.
  22. On a few occassions, I have had to call a game for one of my children. I was told to have them call me "Mr. Umpire" or "Mr Referee" (depending on which sport) because we were short on officials that day. I would rather not umpire their games if I don't have to as I can't watch them. As for people I know? I couldn't call games in this county if I did that.
  23. I got mine for $30 plus shipping. They will work until I upgrade and they have been hit it the toe several times already.
  24. Keep an eye on ebay. They show up every once in a while.
