I think the reason for them having to request all parts at the beginning is to not make the neighborhood reviewable after the fact. Plus it keeps them from making desperation reviews, which would seriously slow things down.

Hey guys, if the play at first is questioned then that is their one. They have to question any part of the play initially, which at that time the play at second isn't reviewable. They can't get a second bite at the apple after the fact.

I say leave it, not everybody goes to that section.

Remember we are referencing a knee pop, not a knee bend. In other words, of course his knee bends when he moves to first, but it is exactly that, move the leg as part of the move to first. A pop is a separate motion that proceeds the move. The problem is done correctly, really hard to see but you will pick runners all day with it.

If you are promoting from within, no matter if it is umpiring or other occupation, but nobody is born with experience. You learn the trade, in this case umpiring, then the employer has to gauge your knowledge and organizational skills. Some guys are great at calling games but suck at off field activities. The number of games and umpires is a big part of the equation, but so is how much competition from other leagues for you umpires. It can be a decent job but it can also be a major pain. Another secret is assign as far in advance as possible, especially if you are competing for umpires, that way when you rain out you have a better idea of how to reassign.

I may have had a nightmare or two but I don't recall them. I did have a similar experience with an assignment. I was scheduled for a D-1 game, so I thought, that was 15 minutes from my house. I leave in plenty of time, get there, nothing, no teams, can't find the AD, no way to confirm what is going on. I assume for some reason they had shifted it to the other school's field, that was 90 minutes away, so I blew it off and went home. I called my assigner a couple of hours later to explain. The problem was they were at the other site, I wasn't assigned that game at all, I was assigned a D III game ten minutes from my house. So I missed that assignment too. It was an add on, before we assigned electronically, I wrote it down wrong because he had given me several games at once to cover. I took a two game suspension for the missed assignment.

So the basic question asked of me is if the parents live in league A's boundary but attend school in league B's boundary, can they move. The other problem is there are three in town high schools, three in town leagues. The problem is one school is in one league's boundary, the other two are in the another, but the third league has none. There is a fourth league that feeds one of the two in the same league boundary. So basically using the schools, they could stack two leagues and decimate two others. It could also completely change the HS team picture.

I do not have a new LL rulebook yet, anybody have any info on the new reg that says you can play in the league that your school is in, even if that is your home league. I had at least 10 coaches asking me about it. I know this isn't an umpire question but some here are also administrators.

The problem with these plays is everyone has their version of obstruction and MC. NCAA is saying that contact above the waist is likely MC. Fed is saying he can't block without the ball. LL is saying he had to have the ball and be ready to make a tag. MLB, who knows, haven't made the new rule yet.<br />Now if you have a trainwreck, tell the coach everybody was doing what they were supposed to being doing so the contact is incidental.<br /><br />Sent from my C771 using Tapatalk 2<br /><br />
