There was a whole discussion about this a few years ago in college. There was a D1 school that the F5 was also a relief pitcher. They would let him throw to a teammate during mound visits so he was warm. Nothing was ever done about it, including in post season.

A local league that is not affiliated shou;d just use OBR and add their age specific rules. That makes it way easier.

Then you are stuck with their stupid rule, and a stupid rule it is. There is a good chance you also have a "Must slide" rule. Another stupid rule that many local leagues put in.

That catcher is what I call a " Chase the ball to the screen person" not the catcher.

Adult leagues depend on how they are run. What you don't do us stick guys out there with no clue what they are doing. Whether it is bad baseball or good baseball, it involves guys that have played HS,many played college and some that played pro ball. The result is they expect a certain level of umpiring and sticking a guy out there that is just starting isn't fair to the league or the umpire.

You are good to that point. Once you started about going to his place of work........then you are wrong. Now if he wants to then say you are a kid and he was an adult, then certainly tell him you are the umpire and as such he is now ejected. DO NOT further engage him. Even as a young umpire you need to take the high road, very tough to do. You have to be the adult when when the adult is doing it.

As many here already know,I started as a teenager, the big brother getting pulled out of the stands because there was nobody else. Obviously I had no training, and we had our share of knucklehead coaches. One situation, an odd call at second, the manager came out to question what happened. At the time in LL coaches were not allowed to cross the line to talk to players. Many took that to mean they couldn't come on the field to talk to an umpire, I never believed that to be the case, so I signaled him to me, I met him partway. I calmly explained what happened, he said OK, went to the dugout, no argument at all. After the inning I saw him down by the foul pole, I asked why he was down there. He said the league VP threw him out. I was why, he said because he went on the field to talk to me. I told him that was ridiculous, I asked him out there, besides the VP had no authority during the game. I told him to get in the dugout and if anybody said anything to see me. That was the last time that happened. Over the years I have had guys try to assert their board position in a game, not happening. I had one tell me he wrote the age specific rules and I was wrong. I told him he wrote them, I was interpreting them and that was going the way I called it. Some here believe that these young ages don't need umpires, that you aren't keeping score. There are many threads on this board and others about coaches creating problems are these ages and for that reason, there do need to be officials. This is an unfortunate truth but some guys just don't get it. However, having officials that can be browbeat by these same idiots serves no purpose. The young umpires can certainly learn but they need to learn correctly, and the league has to back them up. Finally the ejection report. As already noted, leave all opinions out of the report, leave anything that isn't relevant to the ejection out also. Also, write your own, your partner writes his, it is will save confusion.Add any actual language used, if he cusses you, include it. If he touches it, include it. If you are a minor and he touches you, call the cops. Some of the players and coaches I get along with best are guys that I have thrown. Some of the coaches I have had the most trouble with are guys I haven't. Don't go looking for ejections but don't run from them.

I haven't read the other threads yet so I don't all the history, but youth umpire are senior citizen, a coach has no reason to lose his mind or ever touch an official. Blowing a call does not give him free reign to rant, it is ok to feel bad but you still have to take care of business. Now, whether you missed a call, or he thinks you missed a call, expect him to come out. I don't have a problem with that, to a point. If you think he may a point, tell him he may be right but you just didn't see it. If he wants to escalate, shut him down by holding your hand up and tell him enough. Walk away, if he follows, dump him. When you dump him, walk away, your partner should come in and rodeo him off you. At the youth level, sometimes this doesn't happen. If you are below eighteen and he bumps you or lays hands on you at all, call the cops. If you are an adult you can weigh what you want to do, as a minor, call the cops period.

I don't mind adding to old posts if you are adding or questioning something. However, sometimes it is easier to start a new thread. Choose whichever you think works best in each case.

It sounds like the OP was a case of the umpire saying he was assuming a pitching position,set in this case, off the rubber. This is illegal but from the sounds of it, not what happened. Once he steps on, give him a chance to adjust, this includes him reaching into his glove and removing the ball. Once he has settled, then look for infractions. Nobody calls more balks than me, but they have to be balks, not something pulled from an ugly orifice.

Send the assts back as you did. If they go, fine. Try to talk the manager off the ledge but if he gets to the rule book reference, dump him.<br /><br />Sent from my C771 using Tapatalk 2<br /><br />

If I say, let's go, if he looks at me and gives me a pffft type look and continues to talk, I will charge him a conference. If he nods and looks to be finishing his sentence, let it go. Or basketball.

It is a matter of comfort. Some guys struggle moving from one side to the other. I originally boxed but couldn't get comfortable on LH batters so I started scissoring on the LHers. I eventually just went to scissors full time. The bonus is it is easier on my body and I get hit less.

Angel is actually a very good umpire that gets a hard rap from many. The problem is he makes the hard call but isn't strong in a confrontation. Would I make that call, no, but I'm not at that level and that is not an isolated call.

Even if that caveat exists, it wasn't in the OP, it simply said a pick was attempted. The caveat to me does not mean a simple lead but something more outrageous to draw a throw, knowing he was out of order. But it makes no difference, they appealed the wrong guy, they appealed B2. I don't think you can go get the B3 without a direct appeal.
