Hands are part of the bat, right Blue?
kristoffae replied to Mike Prince's topic in Off-Topic/Funny Stories
It is like a mosquito bite. You can feel it itching you. You try and try not to scratch it. You test your discipline by refraining from scratching it. You say to yourself out loud I am not going to scratch that thing. You did it, you beat the urge to kee....... $@!^ you just scratched the damn thing until it bled. Ah, sweet relief. -
Don't even tell us you're posting in the Mask Porn thread without a picture!?!?! Had to reduce the image sizes. They should be good now.

So, as reported by others, the finish on my All Star FM4000 transitioned from a nice brushed / polished aluminum color to a disappointing dull grey color over time. I took it over to the powder coater on Friday. He looked it over and said that it looks like there may not have been much of a clear coat applied to it which led it to dull. Neverthless, for $25 he chemically removed the old finish, did some blasting, and then powder coated it back to a beautiful brushed aluminum color. He also applied about 4 coats of clear afterward so my hope is that this finish holds up longer than the stock finish. My setup is: All Star FM4000 with brushed aluminum powder coat Stock All Star Harness with the two extra straps removed Team Wendy Black Pads Champro Vented Throat Gurad (4.5 Inch)

In the described situation, leave this one alone as BU. PU is 3 feet from the CI. If he doesn't make that call, it is on him. He had his own reasons for a no call. I will say that if PU was simply not a deer caught in the head lights, and did in fact NOT have CI in this situation, better mechanics would have helped him and you out. A crisp visual safe signal along with a verbal "That's nothing" would have been appropriate.

R1 and R2 are at 1st and 3rd; R3 hits fly to LC.

That was my thought. Even after a successful appeal, the run still would have counted and you still have a tie game anyway. -

kristoffae replied to Scratch Franzeo's topic in Umpire Mechanics
I do not think I said plate umpire was responsible for anything in regards to the runner on first. Plate man has the tag and advance of the runner on third and any play at the plate on said runner. Base guy responsible for everything regarding runner at first. -

kristoffae replied to Scratch Franzeo's topic in Umpire Mechanics
The BU should be aware that the runner on first was tagging for an advance and therefore watch the catch by F7 and then quickly focus his attention to the runner on first. Of course he cannot watch both at the same time so he needs to make a judgement on the runners position after the catch. If the runner is already half way between first and second right after the catch then he can reasonably draw a conclusion that the runner left too soon. However, if after the catch, the BU focuses his attention to the runner and the runner is only a step or two off of first base heading to second then the runner would get the benefit of the doubt. To answer the question "who watches the runner on 1st in this situation", the BU is responsible for this even if he cannot "watch" the runner the until after the catch. -

Stay away from this garbage. That is not even a proper ball bag. And I believe Kylejt was messed up wearing a MacGreggor CP, not sure if it was that particular one but pretty sure it was a soft shell ribbed CP from them. You will have a real hard time finding a buyer for it. As stated above, the Champion P2xx is great protection at a great value. Shop around for it. You could easily get one for $35 to $40. If you want to save on a mask, try finding just a frame and harness as you will want to replace the pads with Team Wendys. Great price on plate shoes here http://www.myshoespot.com/c-24-mens-shoes.aspx?searchterm=-Reebok Field Magistrate.

I agree Jeff. Posting on here is not like sending a text message where you are trying to cram as many words into 160 characters. End the acromania.

If this is the case then you should really think about cutting ties with this guy. Find some other opportunities in your area rather than working for this douche hammer.

Enough of the posts of NOT getting hit while wearing this damn thing. We know this contraption can take a shot. Just look at the video of that kook MotoUmp being peppered by a pitching machine. Only post if you get nailed while wearing this thing and are carted off and laid up. Pictures of the affected area as well as X-rays and hot hospital nurses attending to the unlucky guinea pig are required for the post.

Hard to see but they look like Zigs to me. Here is a screenshot from 0.26. Can't really zoom in without distorting the image. -
If you are looking to save a few $'s but still get a quality gear bag, take a look at the Champro 36" Wheeled Umpire Gear Bag. I picked one up from Epic Sports for 96 peppers shipped. http://baseball.epicsports.com/prod/45325/baseball-softball-catcher-umpire-equipment-bag.html
