I have been following the release of the GDS Pro pants w/every intention of acquiring a pair of plate pants as soon as they are available.  Interestingly when Derek posted up pics of the now released base pants I was struck by how similar they look to a pair of 32degree (Costco) charcoal technical pant I wore this entire college season after rediscovering them in my closet.
I wore them in my teaching & football coaching roles for years.  Put them on to wear while traveling to a college date & once in locker room noticed how well they matched to all my partners stuff.  They became my everyday base pants from then on. So much better than the wind-sail Smitty base pants.  I’m sure the GDS Pro base pants would provide same look.  I really liked the flat front slimmer look of my newfound discovery.  Will likely be a candidate for the GDS Pro  bases once I wear out my 32 Degree base pants. Anxiously awaiting the GDS Pro plates release.

Should be available early next week if not over the weekend although it will be lacking in all photos for a bit!

[sarcasm]

How dare you! How dare you think and decide for yourself, and choose something outside of what your association or assigner demands commands directs compels you to wear?! All in the name of "matching", masking a % kickback on getting the whole association locked in to fall in step guided towards purchasing from a particular vendor...

I mean, Skool, heaven forbid we have another episode of the seasons-old Davis (polyester) pants turning purple, and being on the same field as a PU wearing Smitty's, and the U1 CC wearing Fechheimers. Can't have that!

BFX Pro Flat Front Base Cut

I apologize, the photography on this isn't great due to the turnaround time and will be re shot at some point. The flat fronts do have permanent creases that were smoothed over/toned down in post processing. You can see below trying to squeeze into a size too small.

Any chance they will come out with pleated pants, too?

Yes, we expect those within the next few weeks as well.

I'm getting "crotchedy old man" vibes from this.

Show me a plate umpire that wears these and I'll show you a plate umpire that wears his hat backwards, leg guards over his pants, takes his mask off with his right hand, and sets up 3 feet directly behind the catcher.

I am color blind but are you sure those aren't softball pants?

Is this really the back belt loop?

Anything would be better that those current 3 stupid loops so close together! Who came up with that?

Yes, it is. The wider belt loop is used for a few reasons. It provides extra support to the waistband, it mitigates your belt from shifting, is more durable and was a also aesthetics choice. The current branding embellishment will get an upgrade, be more blended and be placed on the belt loop.

That also serves some practical functionality but I believe was largely a design choice. You either love it or hate it.

What possible function is that middle belt loop of the 3 so close together? It's not on size 30 waist pants or smaller, but unfortunately my fat ass is not in that category.

Count me as one that hates it. Yes, the GD's are the only pants I currently wear, both in plate an base styles. I don't like the 3 belt loops, the color has grown on me, and most everybody I work with wear the GD's, so the color is less of a concern. But you definitely see a color difference with other manufacturers.

But the expander waistband, that's a F*#King game changer! 😄

So, my wife's half-witted brother decided to invest in a factory that only manufactures belt loops . . . I know, I know, but . . .
