It just happened in Detroit .....

JD Martinez on first base ............shot to center, dropped ball (not seen) originally called out, and JD Martinez supposedly doubled-up.

Long review ... OVER RULED, and they place JDM at third, and gave Casey McGehee a single.

After the long review Farrell is still pissed off, and he wouldn't shut up , Scott Barry just dumped him!

Can't wait to see this video from MLB.com !  Stay tuned

We always discussed that here, that this type of play would be the most difficult to accomplish because if the placement of the runners.

the 3B coach got ran (Butterfield?). I'm shocked Farrell wasn't run. He came out, I guess not to argue the placement further.

I was watching this on MLB Network. The Boston announcers were dead set on getting an out, because the runner wasn't looking at the ump and went back to 1B on his own. They're not the worst announcers though. But the one guy - maybe Jerry Remy - I don't really like listening to.

Oh ...ok ....I knew there was some confusion as to who got tossed ....   thanks

Yeah, I still don't see how Farrell didn't. But they said the whole dugout was chirping, but seemed like he was the one doing it the most.

3B was a legitimate placement - he was at 2B when JBJ dove for it, so there's not much of a chance he can recover, get up, turn around and throw to 3B in time to keep J.D. Martinez from getting there.

If it were Victor Martinez though, 2B wasn't a sure thing :)

The Sox TV guys are much worse this year.  They let play-by-play guy Don Orcillo go after last year...who was beloved by Red Sox nation and was one of the most fair broadcasters to umpires...and now Remy only does about half the games (Dennis Eckersley...who is brutal in more ways than one...is the usual sub when Remy is out).

The good news is they still have Joe Castiglione on radio and he rivals Scully in terms of how fair he is to umpires.  He even brings some on his pre-game show to discuss different aspects of umpiring.  He's one of the few good guys left.

With my luck, I'll have this reversal in a college game with R2 scoring the winning run.

With my luck, R2 would be the tying run and the winning run wouldn't score for another couple of hours.

That's the point, though...R2 would never be allowed to score on this by the NCAA rule.

True.  They can only be awarded advanced one base from TOP.
