Between sizes for Unequal shin guards

I want to buy a set of these but. When I measure I am at about 15 1/4" to 15 1/2"

So do I get the 14.5" or the 16.5" ???

Any advice is greatly appreciated

You will absolutely want to size up.  I am only 5' 10"  and I wish I would have bought the 18".

I did write at length about it.  I am 5'9" and wear a 32" inseam on pants I buy at stores like Levi's jeans and Gap Khaki's.  I have no idea what the tailor lady I go to measures for my umpire and ref pants hemming.  

 

I measured like the UE site says and I was a 16.5.   I was about to order and my partner that afternoon had 18.5 size and he let me try them on.  I was wearing 17.5 DaviShins.  I like the taller shinguard so I bought the 18.5 size ones.

 

Testimonial:  I get hit and got hit more than I liked and that's why I upgraded to the UE shins after wearing original style then the newer DaviShins for ten years.  I have no mobility issues and get the protection I want and need from these UE shins that I did not get in the Davis.

 

I use a modified Gerry Davis Stance where I lock my hands behind my knees, elbows tight to my sides, slight heel-toe stance as wide as I need to be for the height of the batter and close so I am monkey F*#King the catcher's back way up in the slot with my eyes set at the height of the top of the strike zone (unless the catcher sets up in my slot then I just raise up higher and try to get a look the best I can)

 

Been hit up high and low and in the knee itself several times in these new shins and I have never so much as felt any pressure of any kind.  Just a loud pop and ball goes somewhere.  Once back toward the mound about thirty feet or so.  Once the ball ricocheted off my shins back into the batter's legs on a one-hop worm burner of a ball off the turf.

 

If you like a little bit of protection up on your thighs, get taller.  If you like smaller/shorter coverage then get shorter.

 

Hope this helps.  You will really like these shinguards.  By the way, I am coming to JAX again for more training on 7/27 thru 8/1.  Don't know if I will have evenings free yet or not but if I do, any games we can work together?  I will bring these 18.5 size and you can try them for yourself.  The CP too if you like.

Why not buy from a place where you can buy one size if they dont fit exchange them for the other size just in case the advice you get doesnt do enough

I too wear the UE shin guards.  I have a shorter inseam than MajorDave so wear a 16.5.  Mine kind of stick up a little above the knees, which is wonderful for me as I use the GD stance and put my hands on the knees.  You're going to love these shin guards, Jaxrolo.

I read Majordaves advice. I was a 16.5" and went with the 18" and absolutely love them. Oh and I love the CP as well. Just wish I had the delta flex harness. But they are still sold out.>_>

Follow the chart but if your a tweener than I would suggest sizing up. I've got the 18.5's and they are larger than I need but they provide me with ample protection. The only foreseeable con to sizing up would be that your pants may get stuck but thats not a big deal if you wear polywools, like I know good cuban umpires do. The shins will fit great, even if they are large on you.

 

Throw in the UE CP with your order, for $150 its a great bargain for a top notch chest protector. If you don't like it, you can send it my way and I'll beable to get a friend to buy it from you and you won't have to worry about losing any money.

Anyone know the best way to contact umpire.org regarding an order?

I placed an order on Saturday and now I'm having second thoughts about ordering the 16.5's and might size up to the 18.5's.

Should I just call the administrative office number that is listed on the "Contact Us" tab?

Big_Mac 14. I had ordered the 18, but then found a link to one of the guys review and suggested sizing down. I am 5'10 with 31 inch inseam. I called number off website and told them I need to speak to someone concerning an order I made. The guy called the warehouse and had ordered changed. I got the 16.5 and I think that was the best size for me.
