Why don't the umpires in the field wear the blazers in the field on colder days like they did in the olden days of baseball up until about the early-mid 1990s? Is it because they just wear the jackets?

 

I see the HP umpire wear the blazer but the field umps wear the jackets

I wish it was 20. Won't be near that today and it will be below 0 tonite (that's Fahrenheit for our Canadian and Australian cousins).

I am located in the Coachella Valley in California. Hotter than all get up in the summer, but these winters are great. Rarely any weather issues with baseball.

Go ahead, slapping is appropriate. I agree with Rich about the term blazer. I am surprised Jax has never seen blazers on base umpires. I thought everybody had seen the red ones used in the seventies.
