i wonder who had a strong enough opinion to get it changed...not hp or 3rd,,,so the 2b ump must have been super sure...great eyes or a good guess

I noticed Gerry being sure his mike was off.

 

My guess is that he noticed the ball had no mark, but couldn't just call it a catch then after U3 had pointed down.  So, he got everyone together and said something like "hey nod your heads and I'll change the call" or "Im going to change it unless all of you are 100% sure it wasn't caught"

It's a little tough for Umpires #5 and #6 to get in on the conversation: they look like kittens trying to gte the the bowl of milk.

I think that's Everett as U1.  He whispers something to Ted Barrett right before they all get together, and he's fairly animated when they start talking.  The open side of the catcher's glove was also facing U1, so he should have a pretty good look at it.  I think he was the one who convinced them to change it.

It's a little tough for Umpires #5 and #6 to get in on the conversation: they look like kittens trying to gte the the bowl of milk.

In case you havent been taught the right way to umpire... when the crew gets together, all the umpires.. 2 ..3..4..5..6..  all of us...

That reminded me of how the bullpens come jogging in late when there's a bench-clearing brawl!
