I think Hawk's a clown, but I'm not sure what he did or said in that short clip that was objectionable. He was actually kind of effusive in his praise last night, saying that MLB 'sent them' a great crew. Of course, they were winning (a rarity these days) so easy to say.

He was 3BLX and in the catcher's left hip pocket, which is where he's supposed to be.  If the runner slides like he should have there is no chance he gets run over.  He couldn't have been in much better position to see the tag considering how the play developed.

He's showing that he is not in F2's left hip pocket.  That's a great still shot showing that if he was on F2's left hip, it would have taken him into the best position to see the tag.

The YES network view was straight up the 3B line and from that perspective PU appeared straight-lined right out of the play.

well not technically,... he was 3blx, but not in the left hip...that spot would have been more to the right. I like Alan, and think he does a really good job, I also think he is one of the better young umpires.

As quickly as F2 twirled around to make the tag it would be hard to really be in his pocket on this play.
