And most national rulesets say that a local rule can't do that. Catch 22.

It's not a problem. Just make a local rule saying that any provisions that prohibit the superceding of national rules by a local rule shall, by local rule, be superceded. Voila!

Was doing a game a few years ago. FED rule Varisty HS.  So he had a pinch runner in the 2nd inning and then tied game in 7th put same said runner in as a CR - (I was base) - so other coach let one pitch go by then comes out and says it was an illegal sub.  HP made  correct call, So the offensive coach argues up and down that it was legal,  as he did it last week with some "big time college umps"  and we shoudl get the rule book and look it up on the field.  I told him I was the rule book on the field....after the game I gave the rule book to the AD and he showed the coach the rule - the coaches response - "we don't play by them rules" :smachhead:

So he alled the umps he had the wek before and they said they screwed the pouch and we had got it right - and they loved the way we handled the situation LOL.

My standard answer when I get the old,"They let us last week" excuse, I tell them I can't speak another crews decisions or game situations unless presented by them. Right now this is what we are going to do. I also get to throw in as the rules interpreter I decide.

It's strange - we play by the Georgia HS rules, which is FED. FED 5-1-2e says one warning, second EJ. But local rules, so they say...
