JDavis225 Posted September 21, 2016 Report Posted September 21, 2016 My two babies for the upcoming season. No throat guards but I'm willing to take recommendations. I'm contemplating chopping the guard off the Wilson! Quote
LittleBlue Posted September 21, 2016 Report Posted September 21, 2016 @JDavis225 I'd chop the guard off the Wilson and stick a hanging guard on there. The angle of the built in throat guard does almost nothing in my opinion. That said, I don't use a hanging guard on any of my masks. Quote

Easy to do if you have the right tools. I used a dremel tool then a drill with a sander attachment to make the cuts even. Quote
JaxRolo Posted September 21, 2016 Report Posted September 21, 2016 Why chop??? No real purpose for that. 4 Quote
tpatience Posted September 27, 2016 Report Posted September 27, 2016 Silver Force 3 mask with tan pads and SSK throat guard. Thanks to ump-attire and @JimKirk for the $50 off and the extra 10% off from the Facebook promotion. 2 Quote
tpatience Posted September 29, 2016 Report Posted September 29, 2016 Wilson titanium with my new belgard pads and force 3 mask with TW pads Quote
JohnMcSherry Posted September 29, 2016 Report Posted September 29, 2016 All three masks are sweet! First one is my personal favorite. I always thought that you could only use Force3 pads in a Force3 mask ... learn something new everyday. Quote

I didn't think it would work either. I also think it is significantly lighter with the TW pads then with the stock pads. Quote
Stk004 Posted September 30, 2016 Report Posted September 30, 2016 How are those Belgard pads @tpatience ? Quote

The pads were specifically designed to make the mask work correctly. 1 Quote

I took them off and put the original ones back on. The bottom spring was hitting my chin if I got hit there. Quote

Try to find somebody else of the MLB catchers or the umpires that wear the mask that had suffered an injury that put in jeopardy their season and their livelihood. I will keep using mine and believing in the product and the brand. 1 Quote
MadMax Posted September 30, 2016 Report Posted September 30, 2016 Okay so, if I lay out a mask in front of you, you guys can probably guess what it is, right? Got any ideas? It's low profile. It's quite lightweight. While being vinyl-dipped, it is hollow steel. It has that iconic uniform bullring and wicket. The chin guard is average sized, but being that these masks are done in small batches, I think it passes... This thing is a Nike Steel, dontcha think? Boom. Whoa. Didn't expect that, huh? Neither did I. When I was browsing through eBay looking for good inexpensive masks for my junior / rookie umpires, I happened across this one. I don't care if it has Reebok pads and a Reebok harness on it, that creature is a Nike. The story is that this was the one-time mask of the Arizona Diamondbacks' bullpen catcher, and since he's sponsored by Reebok, the pads and harness got that treatment. I couldn't pass it up, and got it for quite the bargain. Would anybody want the memory-foam / gel pads and the harness? I'll be sending it off to Tony and MaskIt to have the vinyl media-blasted off and then powder coated gunmetal metallic. Quote

So I am going to hold out and pay the extra $50 for mine. Also, after over two years of meaning to put a photo of my Diamond I sent to Tony with my SSK throat guard and TW pads. Here it is: 2 Quote
MadMax Posted October 10, 2016 Report Posted October 10, 2016 Before I sell it off to one of my (new) colleagues here in Phoenix, I suppose one last glamour photo is in order: +POS ZRO-G, powder-coated by MaskIt in gunmetal metallic, with black Team Wendy pads, a +POS harness, and a Markwort silver visor. #Badass 2 Quote
BT_Blue Posted October 10, 2016 Report Posted October 10, 2016 That is sexy right there Max. The gunmetal makes the black almost look blue. Quote
JDavis225 Posted October 11, 2016 Report Posted October 11, 2016 What's the throat guard being worn in the Cubs-Giants game tonight and where can I get one? That'd look good on my Wilson Ti with the now chopped throat guard. Quote
