BT_Blue Posted March 11, 2014 Report Posted March 11, 2014 Mike, what about moving the TW straps BELOW the bar they are above of right now? That way it sits lower on the chin? just a suggestion. I tried moving the side straps down yesterday like that, no go. It's too far down and pushes the pad out of shape badly. I'm not a huge fan of the wraparounds, but I had an open order with U-A so I added them to it (already had free shipping). I've heard they work very well with this mask. If I can find a pair of Wilson "traditional" pads (U-A doesn't carry them anymore) I will get those too. The pads from the Mizuno G2 mask look interesting too (as do several other pads), I have a business contact at Mizuno USA but not sure he can get me replacement pads. That works. Quote
midtnump Posted March 11, 2014 Report Posted March 11, 2014 http://www.btlofficialsgear.com/Double-Row-Wrap-Around-AC483.htm Here you are Mike. Between the lines officals gear has the doe skin ones I think you are looking for. Quote
Majordave Posted March 11, 2014 Report Posted March 11, 2014 After reading Dan Dada's replies to some +POS products topics I went to his website. He sells leather and deerskin traditional pads in black and two shades of tan. $29 and $39 dollars. Just an FYI Quote
acpar72 Posted March 12, 2014 Report Posted March 12, 2014 Ump Attire no longer has any of the traditional Wilson pads. Mike, I have no problem with the TW pads on my 122 and 129. The pads are indeed pushed down but not too much out of shape (difference of opinion). You can do what Jeff Nelson does…uses electric tape! Quote

acpar72 Posted March 12, 2014 Report Posted March 12, 2014 Look what Tony at Maskit did for me! Too bad he can't powder coat those straps! Quote
Thunderheads Posted March 12, 2014 Report Posted March 12, 2014 Look what Tony at Maskit did for me! Too bad he can't powder coat those straps! Oh, that TG made it through the process?? Quote
acpar72 Posted March 12, 2014 Report Posted March 12, 2014 Tony used low heat to process the TG. I think he has proven there is only one powder coater! Quote

acpar72 Posted March 12, 2014 Report Posted March 12, 2014 Not yet. He sent them out today. I just sent it to him and told him to do "whatever"…it looks like silver fleck to me. He also did a Nike steel in matte black. If that looks like i think it will, Im going to have him do one of my Nike ti masks in matte as well. Quote
Toucs1977 Posted March 13, 2014 Report Posted March 13, 2014 That mask is so cool. Not sure how you are behind the plate, but at least you'll look good. 1 Quote
BT_Blue Posted March 14, 2014 Report Posted March 14, 2014 Did you have him take the throat extention off your mask? Thinking if maybe having him do this to my FM25 as well. I have found that my Spyder TG is catching a tad on the collar of my shirts. Quote

FearNot Posted March 15, 2014 Report Posted March 15, 2014 My new Diamond iX3 Mask along with my Rawlings HSM which is the 3rd one I have owned, it was tough thinking out of the box on a new mask. I weighed the stock iX3 before I added & changed things: iX3 with stock pads: 17.6 oz. iX3 without pads: 13.7 oz. Stock pads : 3.9 oz. TW's: 5.1 oz. Diamond Sun Shield: 1.1 oz. Champro Vented 4.5" Throat Guard = 2.3 oz. Champro Vented 6.5" Throat Guard = 3.0 oz. iX3, Tan TW's, Diamond Visor, 4.5" Champro TG = 1# 6.4 oz. or 22.4 oz. I went with the 4.5" TG mounted on the bottom of the mask after trying the 4.5" & 6.5" at different mounting points. I did this while wearing my WV Gold to try different ideas. This mount option worked the best for me as I'm a very big chested guy and wearing a WV makes me a bigger chested guy! I wear my CP high and tight but I could sneak a baseball between the mask & CP without a TG. The 6.5" was almost long enough that I could have been safe if I forgot my Nutty Buddy! Quote
FearNot Posted March 15, 2014 Report Posted March 15, 2014 My Rawlings HSM weighs in at 2# 8.3oz. in case anyone cared. Quote

JoHart10 Posted March 19, 2014 Report Posted March 19, 2014 I own a pair of Team Wendy's in black "new"(placed on mask, tested at home...taken off), but the 5 o'clock stubble just won't let them work for me. Quote
zm1283 Posted March 19, 2014 Report Posted March 19, 2014 People are free to spend their money how they want, but I'm confused why one would need more than two masks at the very most at any given time. Quote
BigUmpire Posted March 19, 2014 Report Posted March 19, 2014 Ok guys all of you show these great masks. Here is when I use to survive calling 10U and 8U rec ball. Plywood sheets I stand behind. Quote
JoHart10 Posted March 19, 2014 Report Posted March 19, 2014 I hear ya zm...my collection is more a symbol of me being unable to turn down a deal or helping another umpire out...outside of the Nike which I paid $75 for (and I feel the majority of the board members on here would have done the same) I haven't spent more than $45 on any of the other units. The diamond mask was $5.00 before the pads set me back another $20...so in my mind that's to good to pass up. People in a pinch know I will help out quick so I get a lot of offers...most of which I take. Hope this makes sense, but don't worry if it doesn't...I hear that at home. Quote
