USSSA strikes again.

Working a 13u tourney this weekend. I had the plate for a semi and the final game.

After the semi I am walking out of winning side dugout. One fan asked me if we were playing on the same field. Then another fan said he hoped I wasn't going to be there that I don't belong behind the plate. That I almost lost them the game. (It was a run rule game)

I go to the coach and tell him that the fan has to leave and won't be allowed at the next game.

Well, the director not only let's him stay but pulls me of the plate.

TDs are just babysitters. As as long as no one bothers them they don't care what happens. That fan bothered the TD and they moved you off the plate just to shut that douche up.

Why I love my USSSA UIC. He and the TDs get along very well, and if the TD would of disagreed and pulled that crap (which I never see happening) one phone call would of probably fixed it.

A few years ago at an AAU tourney mp partner had the dish. and the sun was setting directly behind the pitcher with no trees or anything on the immediate horizon. A pitch comes in and the catcher couldn't see it and it went uncaught and grazed the side of his neck. While they were attending to the catcher my partner conferred with me and he said he couldn't see anything either. The catcher was fine, but we agreed that we would suspend the game until the sun set completely for safety. A team from Alabama went Ape $h1t on us.

I tried to explain it would only be a moment, and this would not effect the time limit.

They (meaning all 15 coach-daddy's) continued. I had every right to dump the whole lot of them, they were having conniptions over something so absolutely stupid. But I did restrict them to the bench, and told them that included their voices. You should have seen the heard of lemmings leave the dugout to the TD's booth.

A few minutes later here comes the TD with the coaches. We explained what was going on, he agreed.

The sun set, and before we start again my partner asks the pitcher if he would like a couple of warm up pitches. (I wouldn't have as they were tossing it around the infield the entire time, but it was within his right) The Alabama HC comes storming out about he shouldn't be given any warm ups. My partner dumped him immediately to the cheers of the other team with the TD still on the field.

Alabama ended up winning, and as the brackets were set they would remain on the field we'd been assigned to all day. We didn't switch out as I did the first two plates and he was doing the second two. Seeing that we didn't leave the field they went back to the TD and some how got us moved to another field. Which irritated me because the TD was appeasing these whinny SOBs.

thats ridiculous...if they dont like whose calling a game then either

a) go to a different tourney

b)STFU and deal with it

or

c) see how well you call a game..sign up with a local association

But

a- is exactly what TD's fear since they make their money (and therefore umpires make money) by them showing up, so he tries to keep them happy, if he makes a few umpires mad, he will find more,

b- um, probably not, "we have paid lots of money and deserve better", etc. etc.,

c- I agree, every park should have a sign like the one Rich Ives said is at his and if a TD would say that, I would be happy.

FWIW jax im with you. If your criticizing umpires and getting in there face after you win 12-0, then your not sticking around to abuse the umpires even worse if you lose

I know I am not very good. I have not yet developed the coolness and experience that you have. And I don't have rules knowledge the will get me above the 10U games that I work now. This 13U thing was just a test to see if I could handle it and I failed miserably.

As a matter of fact I was told today that I will be demoted to Pitching machine games. At least I am still a step above T-Ball.

If I m not careful they might make me work softball games.

I may have to do a search of all your previous post so that maybe I can learn something valuable.

The son of this man is a 6'4" 240# kid that just turned 13. He was at CDP the same week I was there and broke the CDP Homerun record.

This guy has problems with many Umpires. He thinks he can do whatever he wants cause everyone wants the kid there.
