Gents,

I'm a sunglasses wearer. I wear them just about all the time on the field. Before I had always been a convenient store, WalMart, Target, or some other off brand wearer. I never wanted to spend that much money on a pair. Every now and then I'd buy some Diamond Flares by Easton.

I just bought a NEW pair of OAKLEY HALF JACKETS for $45 through the magic of Ebay.

I'm thinking about buying another pair for pretty cheap but I wanted to get your guys' opinion. They are the SI Oakley M Frames. I guess they are made for the military. My thought is any Oakley's I can get would be a good deal.

Thoughts?

What glasses do you wear?

I too wear Oakleys which I got from Ump-Attire.

Like you I wore cheapo sunglasses forever. Why, because until the past year I've never been able to keep a pair around too long before losing them. I didn't care too much to lose a $10 pair, but expensive ones, I'd have a heart attack.

I absolutely love these. Great vision, comfortable and shatter resistant. We'll not only have I had these for a year or so now without losing them I actually still have my older pair of cheapos which I use for trimming the lawn and other things where there is a risk of them getting damaged.

While the cheapos look similar to the Oakleys switching immediately back and forth between the two you can tell the distinct difference in the optics.

Warren's pic is the old version .....zm's pic is the newer version of the Flak XLJs.

I think anything POLARIZED would be good, but Oakley does have the market on this for sure.

For my size face, etc, ....I'm thinking about the Radar Path ...we'll see how the funds go.

But, ...I too am petrified of scratching them while working the dish .....that's a tough risk to purchase something nice and have a large potential to have them scratched ........but ..........

Brandon, what seller is doing this? Or was it luck of the draw?

+1. These are great. I wear contact lenses so I like to wear something to keep the wind, dust and dirt out of my eyes. My only problem is I am a little nervous about what to do with them on those occasions when it gets too dark to keep them on. The $10 pair I did not worry about in the ball bag nearly as much.

Check your health insurance/vision plan. I paid a $25 co-pay for mine.

Luck of the draw... I hope :D

The seller said that he didn't like the way they looked on him so he wanted to sell them. It's not an Ebay store, just an individual. So... I'm hopeful.

I wear Radar Pitch Oakleys from Ump-Attire. Great glasses, but I still can't pull them off on the dish.

Was taught a long time ago not to wear shades behind the plate and when I try it now it just feels weird, plus there is the issue of getting sweat on the lenses.

I love Oakley's but do not wear them on the plate.

When on the plate I just use cheaper sunglasses that I usually purchase from the fishing section at Walmart...hehe.

If it is a night game I wear Yellow Shooting Glasses.

It brightens up things.

I also wear contacts for reading so I always wear either sunglasses on the yellow shooting glasses on the plate.

Keeps dirt out of my eyes.

I didn't wear them once and got dirt in my eye and after washing it out found I had lost a contact also. Didn't know it till I got home and it wasn't there to take out.

I wear cheapos. They tend to last a looooooong time. Every time I get a good more expensive pair of sunglasses, they get scratched or broken. With the cheapos, its like they are indestructible.

I don't wear them behind the plate if it's going to get dark during the game. If it's an afternoon game and is sunny, I usually do wear them. If it gets too dark when I'm on the bases I slip them on my belt behind my back.

I have worn my Oakley's for over a year and they haven't been scratched yet. I haven't knocked them off and nothing has hit them.

I wear Oakley Radars on the bases. If I hadn't lost the nosepiece for my M-frames in a collision my sophomore year of college I'd still wear those. LOVE the M-frames. Radars are great, but IMO the M's offer better range of vision and just look better. I understand what everyone says about not wanting to break or lose $100+ sunglasses, and the cheapo's definitely have their advantages-Semper Fi 72 got me wearing fishing glasses and shooter's glasses behind the plate-but out in the field, I'm hooked on Oakley.

Guys,

Thanks for finding Oakleys on our site and glad you enjoy them.

We have gotten several recommendations from umpires for Oakleys that are vented to help prevent fogging. We have some Radar Paths in vented on order and should be here soon.

If we are missing anything in our Oakley selection, please feel free to make a suggestion.

If you ever need a part to a pair of Oakley's, call them. Next to Ump -Attire they have the best customer service. You will get what you need.

I had to get a couple of items when I took off a pair of Oakley's on the bases when it got dark. I put them down the back of my shirt and then sat in the car......oppssssss.

Glad to hear you like the shooting glasses.

I will wear the same glasses that I wear to work. The last pair I had was AOSafety glasses that lasted over a year of every day wear. I prefer to wear glass that I am used to, so I use $20 to $35 glasses and they seem to last alot longer than any pair of expensive glasses I have ever bought.

I used to wear Pro-M Frames, but I like my Radars much better. By the way you know you can buy a replacement nose piece for those m-frames.

I like my NICE sunglasses just way to much to take them on the field with me...so I go the CHEAPO route...and will normally hit one of these 2 web sites.

Yeah they're plenty cheap...cheaper by the dozen you'd say....but a dozen at a time....if I'm doing a youth game....and that kid that BARELY plays.....actually plays.....that kid just might get the shades off my nose at games end....that normally goes over BIG TIME....and for the most part....they aren't that bad.

If I should for some reason leave them behind....or they break....I'm not crying about it....

I've also bought these CHEAPOS as my my GIVE AWAYS at tournaments in Maryland and at CDP as well....normally I'll make sure I have enough to take care of my "sponsor" team at CDP...

COOL LOOKING...but CHEAP....for the kids....

The NICE ones stay in the truck and at home....and get worn when it matters.

For under the mask....do an ebay search

These are for the ANTI FOG safety glasses;

The next listing, I've used the smoke lenses when it's REAL BRIGHT....the yellow at night.....they haven't fogged up on me.....YET!

I have a pair of Oakley Radar Pitch glasses that I wear on the bases. I only wear sunglasses on the plate when working games below HS/Legion level, but when I do, I wear cheapos.

I also have a pair of clear shooting glasses I got from Wally World for 5 bucks, that I wear on cloudy, extremely windy days. I could have probably sold them for a lot more during a game I had this season with 40mph winds. They are a great addition to your gear bag. Don't need them very often, but when the need arises, you will be glad you have them.

Would you trust your eyesight to fake protection? What else are they willing to forge (100%UV protection, really? Polarized, really?)

"All of our Wholesale Sunglasses have UV 400 protection which blocks 100% UVA and UVB rays"

Ah, no.

I had an Oakley sponsorship years ago, and have worn them ever since. Now I lost a pair a couple of weeks ago on travel, and needed a some in a hurry. I was in a local Costco, and tried on a few pair. Low and behold I walked out with a Kirkland pair of polarized sunglasses. I gotta tell you, the vision is quite good. $23, and they're light and semi-good looking, according to my daughter ("you look like Keanu Reeves in The Matrix"). These are my new backups, and my next pair of Oakleys will be polarized. It makes a HUGE difference.

Don't trust your eyes to junk.

(Kyle: Not necessarily directed at you, but since you used this 'style' of writing/speaking:) What is it with the "really?" .... "really?" The entire country is talking this way, where is it coming from??????? What is it??? Who started it??? God, I wish it'd stop!:HS

Kyle, I found these with a quick browse ..... it was nothing more than a "look what I found thingy-doo, .... so, no, I wouldnt' trust this .....

Don't trust your eyes to junk.

THIS is something I can say REALLY! too
