I played from LL on through HS. No JUCO, and recently, picked it back up in a mens league in my area....I may have lost a step or 2( more like 3-4), but my manager told me the other day I am batting .700 for the season....I am still grateful to be playing and umpiring!

LL thru Hs. Played every position on the field at some point but was a better outfielder than anything. I was also a decent pitcher..... junkballer.

Best and worst memory was I made a pony league allstar team and we made it to the district championship undefeated in double elimination and lost two in a row. The team that beat us went all the way to the national championship, we had beat them once prior.:no:

LL, Teener, and Legion ball - played SS but was never an "All Star". Started coaching my daughters tee ball team 3 years ago, and was asked to help umpire the tournament - been hooked ever since.

Played until HS. Never an all star. Got back on the field for slow pitch softball (always had that arc from the mound, only there it is a good thing!). Later on started coaching (Tee ball thru BR/ 16U ASA) when the kids got old enough. That run is almost done and then it is umpiring full time.

He was, and he played in 12 whole games, before they shipped him off to Philly. But he wasn't there for the Series.

By the way, you can take a long walk on a short pier for making me remember that.

Played t-ball up to my senior year of hs for baseball. After that I played in a couple softball leagues until about 2007, then deployments started getting the best of me. A year in Iraq from '07-'08, PCS to Germany and now another deployment to Afghanistan. Plan on playing again when I get back to the states, whenever that may be.

I've never played an inning of recreational or competetive baseball although my childhood/youth had a lot of "sandlot" ball.

Now, I did play Division 1 college basketball my freshman and sophomore years...

Played from age 5 to age 12. Then got involved(read scorekeeper) last two years of high school. Helped coach stepdaughters team for a couple years in coach pitch and Minors. She didn't want to play this year. Got a call from the guy that would be her coach begging for coaches and players to make a second team. Told him no, but would help umpire. I am now hooked. Enough so that my wife is beginning to dislike baseball season.

Started with the league between t-ball and the LL level you see on TV (Minors, maybe?). First year, I was F5, then moved to F4 the next year. Stayed there through high school, except for one year as F3. Played through Seniors in LL, then did a couple years with our local Legion. Also played middle school, JV, and Varsity.

Sometimes I cringe at how some F4's don't know how to play their position.

Youth through JUCO and then Hometalent, 90% of the time spent as f2, 10% as an outfielder on my days off. Had to quite playing due to cumulative head injuries (too many concussions...). So I thought that I would dress up in the blue and get back behind the plate?????

Crap, when I started at age 6, there was no T-Ball or machine pitch. We pitched the ball. That must have been some boring baseball!

I went on to play at every level, until I was talking to a JuCo when I fielded a ball and didn't square up as I threw. I heard a pop, and the rest is history.

I played slow-pitch softball for years, but I never really liked it!

Little League up to Connie Mack [now BIG LEAGUE].

The ULTIMATE utility player...the RUNT of the teams I was on...and both sons....also the RUNTS on their teams....baseball, football, etc....

Stay in the coach's way so that in order for him to STOP tripping over you....he had to put you on the field.

Check this; I started umpiring while still in HS....primarily played 2B....but the utility guy....

Watched whether the BU would actually look at a BR touching bases....and the PU what he did....so I could CHEAT if need be.

I got tossed in HS while playing 2B because I hit R1 with the ball because he DID NOT GET OUT OF THE WAY OF MY THROW....BU tossed me.....but the rest of the season....I had a clear throwing lane to 1B...

I was tossed a few times in my playing days....the sitch just mentioned TWICE....once....I NEVER turned to the PU but just asked...while looking at the pitcher...."is that as high as we're going today sir"?.....

15 or so years later....I got to work with some guys who did my younger games that I played.....and IT'S HAPPENING TO ME KNOW.....

Oh yeah....I played a little bit....coached my teams when I did coach...the same way.

I played organized baseball from 8 - 18. Started with my father & brother at 5. I was an all star all the way through. I started catching at 10 and finished at 18. When I was 15, I played on 7 different teams from March - August. If someone was putting together a team, I showed up and played.

Played some slow pitch softball since then. Most recently I organized an over 50 team in an open league. We got murdered for 9 weeks, but we had a lot of fun because we had very low expectations.
