    Pitchers Glove

I had this last week in a Little League 10 and under game. Top 4 and the HT brings in a new pitcher that has a 1B glove on. AC comes out to argue that he can't wear a first basemans mitt that he has to wear a regular glove. I told him the color was all brown, and not a distraction as far as I was concerned, but he kept on that he couldn't wear it. HC didn't want to start a hassle (up by 12 runs) and had the kid change the glove. Was I correct in he could wear whatever type of glove he wanted to as long as the color didn't blend with the uniform or can he not pitch with a first basemans mitt? Thank all!!

  7. Cub Scouts wear it on their uniform, Girl Scouts wear it on their uniforms. It flies facing forward to anybody who is looking at it unless...you are wearing an Army uniform with it sewn on the right shoulder and you are in combat. Then it flies facing backward to anybody looking at it. Wanna know why? A lot of Army soldiers can't even tell you why but...it is because in battle when the troops carried the flag it always flew in the wind and when flying in the wind when being carried it flies "backward" so this symbolizes carrying the flag in battle!
  8. I'm "follicly challenged" as well and the hat almost always comes off with the mask...

  10. LL, Teener, and Legion ball - played SS but was never an "All Star". Started coaching my daughters tee ball team 3 years ago, and was asked to help umpire the tournament - been hooked ever since.
  11. Some people have been making Jim Joyce and Don Denkinger comparisons (Not here per say, but in other places), and here’s the thing, it’s been 25 years since Denkinger blew that call. If MLB umps have one truly epic gaffe every 25 years or so,( which equals four per century) that doesn’t strike me as such a bad track record really. It’s just part of the game’s human element...
  12. I think this sums it up really well, and this should be the graciousness shared between umpires and players/managers all the time: ...after first base umpire Jim Joyce blew the call on what would have been the 27th out, as fans booed and the announcers went crazy, what did pitcher Armando Galarraga do? He smiled, readjusted his cap and headed back to the mound to finish the game. It brings tears to our eyes just thinking about it. Other people yelled and screamed. Detroit Tigers manager Jim Leyland (and several players) gave the umpire the business. But not Galarraga. He showed some disbelief at the call and then went right back to doing his job, earning himself a 28-out perfect game. Even after the game Galarraga didn't display any hard feelings. "I feel sad" is what he said. About Joyce, he said, "He feels so bad -- really bad ... I told him, 'Nobody's perfect.'" What a display of grace by Galarraga. "I just cost that kid a perfect game," Joyce said afterward. "I thought he beat the throw. I was convinced he beat the throw, until I saw the replay." "I don't blame them a bit or anything that was said. I would've said it myself if I had been Galarraga. I would've been the first person in my face, and he never said a word to me," said Joyce. Such graciousness, but not only by Galarraga but by the umpire. In admitting he was wrong.

  14. "Plus it's not a purse, it's called a satchel. Indiana Jones wears one." :WTF
  15. On OP it should have been no call until F2 tagged him, then since he missed the plate when sliding it would have been a punch out.
  16. I found this post on "In Defense of Norm" interesting and have nominated it accordingly for "Post Of The Month May, 2010"
  17. Everybody has to start somewhere, even if that is a small town LL program, with whatever they can get their hands on with the hope of "moving up" - just like the players we are there to officiate.
