I cut a piece of Lexan about 3 by 6 in and put a binder clip on the top and voila...one lineup card on each side. I can either put it in my shirt pocket or my ball bag. I have had it at least 10 yrs now. I've made them for about 10 guys in our association.

They want $16.25 for shipping. :shakehead: The other one linked earlier in the thread is $12 + $8 shipping. I bought one today and am looking forward to giving it a try. The problem with smaller holders is that you end up having to fold/unfold the larger lineup sheets when changes are being made which can be a pain. I usually keep my lineup holder in my left ball bag, so I think it will work out well.

I like this idea too.  But how about the bottoms of the lineup cards?  Won't they tear or rip when you put it in your pocket or ball bag?  I ain't seeing how this works.  Help me out man.

I love it! Not only did you have a piece of polycarbonate laying around, you were able to find it, cut it, and find a binder clip and post back about it in 18 minutes!

I can't imagine dinging a guy for where he carries a line up card. I carry mine in my left ball bag, many of my guys carry it in their shirt. What do you do if you wear a cover, no pocket. What of it is106 and you sweat it through? Arbitrary requirements are stupid. I don't like white on shoes but I am not dinging a guy for it. I will mention it but that's his choice. I went looking for a lineup card holder last week. My Gerry Davis one broke last year and I spent the remainder of the year keeping it together with tape. In the past three years, I'd become a pro at folding the different lineup cards to fit in the card, but the problem was being efficient in changes.

I found the Sports Information Media one:

At $15 each ( http://www.sportsinf...etail.asp?id=86 ), I was leery, but I liked the fact it was larger and was able to keep the cards open. I ordered two, since the shipping was $8 either way. They came shipped by UPS on Monday, 6 days after ordering. I didn't receive a shipping confirmation, but $8 to receive it within a week isn't too shabby.

I haven't had a chance to really inspect it, but the first thing I noticed was it was a bit bigger than I expected. What's neat, though, is that it folds accordian-style into fourths, so it should easily fit in a ball bag, especially my left one that usually holds nothing. Another neat thing is that I only need to open one side, leaving the other side folded.

The holder is designed to allow writing without removing it from its side. There's a plastic frame on each side, leaving an opening in the middle to allow writing on the card. When I get a chance to try it out completely, I'll see how it works with each type of card I see. The only downside I can see is that it won't allow me to write on the borders, where I typically keep track of meetings and courtesy runners. If this is the case, I'll have to find another place to keep track of it on the card.

Overall, I think it will take a small learning curve to get used to it, but I think it will work wonders on keeping the cards from having to be folded several times and then unfolded to keep track of changes.

 

I ordered a couple and got them in the mail. The are taller than I imagined, but they are the size of the large lineup cards that most HS and college teams use (i.e. Glover lineup card). I think they have changed slightly since they were originally discussed. Instead of the plastic that holds the lineup card in "framing" the line up, it now only holds the corners, so one would still be able to write on the edges of the lineup cards, just not the corners. Also, the pen holder is no longer a part of the holder.

 

For those that use these, do you just put them in your left ball bag and let it lay on the bottom of the bag. It is much too tall to use the pockets in my UA XL ball bags. It would not work in the shirt pocket and I think it would look funny in the back pocket of the pants as well.

 

I believe I will really like using it, just not sure where to keep it.

I believe sports loft is just selling the product made by Sports Information Media. They are either the exact same thing or crazy close. The picture on the sports loft page looks like it is the old style with the plastic border that goes all around the lineup.

 

 

Gonna use mine for the first time on Tuesday night. My assigner gave me a good birthday present. A great high level game in a great park. Not sure if he knows it is my birthday, but I am counting it as a present.

Follow up......Used mine now for 3 games behind the plate, allows me to make changes must faster...with the holder only covering the corners, it gives you room around the edges of the lineup cards to write notes.....I only use one ball bag, but I was able to store in the bag with 4-5 baseballs without any problems.....So far, i like it and was worth the $$$.

Sounds good. I wear two ball bags, so I plan on putting it in the left one. Most of the time I only have 1 ball on that side.

I hate unfolding the lineups so this will hopefully be a welcome change.

While I have not used it in a game, I had several sizes of lineup cards that I tried in it the other night around the house. It seems to hold whatever you put in it. As long as the lineup will fit in two of the four corners you should be fine. While not as good as the big lineup cards, but I see it working.

 

Hopefully I will have a couple of plates this week and I will get to test it out.
