All,

Honest question,.. for clarification please.

I've seen somewhere, can't find it, but...

for a NON LOGO cap, should it still be creased?

I'm assuming yes, but just wanted to clarify.

Thanks in advance

Here it comes...

Many people say yes, many say no.

It is just a matter of personal preference.

I prefer creased and will be creasing the two new ones I got shortly.

Thanks Warren. I wish I could remember where I saw that "non logo isn't as important to crease" ...something along those lines...

That was me

And I said

"Personally, I do not see the point in creasing a logo-less cap, but that is just my opinion, and it may change."

Ahh haaa!! GOT IT!! :2cents: Thanks!

Ok, now that we have started a forum on this, how do you guys crease your caps? Are you just ironing them where you want the crease?

OK - I'll probably get slammed here, but . . .

I don't crease my caps at all - logo, no logo, don't care.

Never seen the point; don't like the look.

I've got nothing against it, it's just not for me.

Firstly I'm a creaser. Like the look, and it allows you to pack your caps without the need for one of those cap caddies.

There was a great thread on Rob Drakes former site. (Man I wish I could have archived some of the stuff that I read there) :2cents:. Anyway, if I remember correctly the main point was to cover your cap with a damp towel then Iron it. I think there was also talk of then letting it reast under a book or something equally weighted.

For me I try to use the bill of my combo hat as the marker for the main crease, and I fold the back up accordian style to match it

I know some guys fold and others Iron or even both. Just be very careful ironing. Wool singes easily with too much heat and then your hat will look shiny where the iron was so keep it even lower than the wool setting on the iron.

Use a wet cloth/pillowcase, ect. Place this over the cap and iron the creases in. I have done it with multiple caps and never had a problem with shining. Dont touch the iron directly on the cap though - use a wet cloth.

Okay: I understand that creasing is a fold of some kind, But where do you do this crease on the hat:question1:

See just above the 'logo' on the caps.......

As far as where to crease, i split the vent holes and arc it down towards the middle seam on both sides. I've seen some above and some below in relation to the vent holes. I also then go maybe about a half an inch above the sweatband in the back and then crease and pull to the front crease (middle 1/3rd of the hat then folds under). That gives me a pretty nice look in my opinion.

This is how I do it.

First I roughly align my creases. When I have them how I like them I use bag clips to hold them in place. I prefer using the ones from Le Gourmet Chef. They are like 2 inches long, have a lot of "grasping" pressure and really help set and maintain the crease, and they're like $.99 a piece.

I take one side and using a Steam buddy with the press attachment. I put the crease between the press, blow some steam through it and then move all along the crease. As I move along I replace the bag clips while its still warm to help set the crease (plastic backing will be warm and soft, it'll set in place as it cools)

I set the back crease as well then fold up and clip everything in place and let it set to cool.

Once I crease as hat this way I never have to repeat again and just use the bag clips following the games.

Not saying this is the best way, just the way I do it and it works pretty well for me.

Well, you may not say it, but I will: This is the best way.

Use the vent holes as a guide and use clothes pins to sharpen the crease.

Good recommendation. If youre a junkie like most of us, if you look at some detailed pics of MLB guys everybody creases their caps differently. Some go for more of that rounded look other go for a more pointed look. There is no right or wrong way to line up the creases its up to you!

I just used this method minus the steam buddy, but with a wet wash cloth and it really seemed to turn out quite nicely. I'm using binder clips to hold the crease overnight.
