in little league - can the first basemen set up in foul side of the line with both feet out to pick off a runner after the pitch.

"Start reading the rule book" good advice (always a sarcastic response) I knew the rule just could not put my finger on it

Last night I'm on bases juniors little league game, Runner on first, batter hits ball up third base side of second. Shortstop bare hands ball and dives toward second slaps base with empty glove and holding the ball in his bare hand. I punch the runner out on force play. Well needless to say the manager goes wacko. I didn't change the call. Does anyone have a rule number on this?

I'm with you on this also kyle. I don't treat umpiring as a business .Maybe I don't know every rule by heart but I know plenty enough to give the KIDS the best playing experience I can. Maybe I don't treat it like a business because I have a job and don't use umpiring to supplement my income. I do it because I remember the excitement my son got at every game. I remember how much I love being on the field. Yes I do umpire for free if I'm needed because I didn't forget what this game means to a kid. Yes I'm there for the kids. So what if I have to be there thirty minutes longer. If I don't get the next game in I'll be there for completion when it's scheduled.

I was there too, sitting with the guy's from Jersey on Saturday and the New Hampshire ump's on Sunday

I was wondering if anyone has a league that uses this live video feed. This company will install cameras on your field so people can subscribe to their service to watch games they cannot attend. I was thinking this might be bad news for umpires. I can see coaches recording their games and checking the umps calls. what are your thoughts on this? There is no ruling on this that has been established. You are correct if the hat just falls off we can't do anything. I know the post says the hat just falls off. But if the hat is falling off due to the pitcher's delivery(hitting the glove or arm) and the ump feels this is being done to distract the batter after talking F1 and this continues the ump can eject pitcher. This question is also on the interactive quiz on the ump-news site and the answer supports mine. I don't know about you, but if my hat kept falling off I would want to correct the problem.
