Your writing is as good as mine, lol, but I think what you are saying is the same thing that I had in my answers above. yes we did say the same thing, but your had a comment on "unless it's strike 3" the number of strikes wouldn't make a difference.
-
I might have to retract my statement here... the manual has the correct answer.. I will email our instructor and see if this is right ruling..

According to the Wendelstedt Rules Interp manual, which I quoted above, this is not the case. If a batted ball becomes foul, per the interp above, then BR returns to the box with a strike added to the count (unless k3). Yes.. it is on pg 236....LOL If the ball is foul, then the batter is returned to bat...you cant award a batter 1st on a foul ball.
-
Nope..... and these questions are right out of the WUM. No because .. of of the (if it strike e comment) if the ball is foul, on © interference is am immediate dead ball, and the batter would be returned to bat.

In A the runner is out and the batter gets first In B the runner is out and the batter retruns to the plate with a strike (unless it would of been strike three) In C I have the same as B but I know some rules guys who would disagree. and I assume that the ball was catchable in A and in B and that the contact was judged to be interference Agree... In C though....if the ball winds up being caught, then isn't the INT called off? 1 out, R3 still? Runner INT is an immediate dead ball. Anything that "happened" after the INT, never actually happened. oh oh..somebody is on the right track.
-
R3, no outs, no count. The batter hits a pop up along the 3rd base foul line. As the third baseman positions himself underneath the fly ball, R3 attempts to get back to third , in doing so, R3 makes contact with the third baseman while.. (A) the ball is over fair territory and falls to the ground. (B) The ball is over foul territory and falls to the ground. (C) The ball is over foul territory and is caught over fair territory.

Ok right answer.. close the thread....LOL

what is the ruling if there is a runner or Runner's on base and this happens?
-
Do you umpire College ball... If so there is no way a assignor will let you call safe's and out's from "B" with no one on base.. ain't gonna happen.. You really need to get to some clinics so you can be taught the right way.. I might add the reason this is taught this way, is cause it has been a proven system.. it works from HS to lower college to the lower minors.

Who on here plays golf.. if so what is your Handicap?... I play too much.. I think I am around a 8-10..

I have this manual.. Bought it at umpire school this year.. well the money, it has a bunch Of Harry's hints, which are pretty cool, some mechanics ( like on a fly ball caught with a hat) ...

Gerry wanna sell your Douglas?

You guys who are going will like this clinic, Jason is a great guy who loves umpiring, I work some of my very 1st DI games with him.. he will teach you as much as you want to learn.. Enjoy...I went to the Mid-America advance camp and had a ton of fun..those guys do a really good job.

I have the Mobile site, and yes you can accept or decline games.. look at weather, partners.. it's not to bad.

I think after watching this that the pitcher intentionally tripped him.

Old-school knee-on-ground stance by Doug Eddings last night...

which mechanic? they are not teaching the calling out of pitches... but after 3-4 years you are allowed to do it. Its kinda of like placing your hand on the catchers back, or pointing on strikes..LOL -
In the 1st video, that is a great call...textbook..

Yes I would... This is what they are teaching at the very low Minors... While I am not a fan of the knee ( #1 I am 5'7") I just get really low.. or as i like to I work up and back a little..and watch really rely on the catchers glove. But like I said I tried it and like yelling out the location of the pitches that were close.. i did get the whole " Hey Mike where was that pitch" -

That umpire was Paul Nauert .. he only did it when the batters were crowding the plate, we are taught to get low so you can still see the pitcher release the ball, the other was is to work up and back.. but you can work this way as well.. No the whole telling were the pitches are... I tried it this year int he CPL.. and I had no problems from any team about "where was that pitch" cause I just told them..LOL I liked it very well. and thought it helped with Game management. It will not work for every one. and it is not allowed our 1st 3 years in Pro Ball. -
The MLB umpires have their list for the whole season, I got too see one from last year. its pretty cool.
-
there have been alot of changes.. i know you updated some stuff... but this list is still off.. I can get you a pretty 100% accurate list if you need be...
-
[ I will tell you that at Harry's we did award the BR 1st, cause if the other runners are forced to advance, the BR would make all of them move.. But at Evans they do the lead runners 1st... either way is right..really as long as you award the runners right bases.
-
Excellent mechanic. Minor difference in that Maximizing has us calling TIME first. As an aside: I realize that we are supposed to place runners starting with the lead runner. This makes sense for Balks, Overthrows, etc. However it seems counter-intuitive to do this when there is a force in place (i.e. Runner interference, Catcher Interference) because the BR is being awarded first. yes this is the way it is taught at School and PBUC.

Interference not called because it's not interference?
mazzamouth replied to johnnyg08's topic in Umpire Mechanics
But this is not a Backswing INt play...and really couldnt be enforced as a Back Swing INT. -

I bought this book at Umpire School, it is a very good Rules Interpretation, it has a bunch of Hints from Harry. Has some mechanics in there. I paid double that, so you guys are getting a bargain.
