You know all the MLB umpires I have gotten to talk to, really like Jim.. cause he keeps it on the field, the next day is a new day.
-
Laz comes to a Local clinic of ours.. and he is very nice.. we went out after at a club and My wife got to meet him.. the other day he was working the game in Chicago and she said he was a nice guy... That is a cool story man.
-
why would you want the pocket off the base shirt anyways... I know I wear the same shirt.. so I can't do it.. Plus I keep a small golf pencil and a 3x5 card in there for notes..ie.. EJ.. homeruns.. hard slides.. throwing.

What is done in practice and what is done by the rules are 2 different things. This is another reason why MLB umpires are not to be followed in their practice. Per the rule, it is their responsibility to judge ALL runners involved in the entire play. If umpires choose not to do that, then that is their choice. This is a completely different stance than your first posts on either site. Saying the rules don't cover it and saying the umpires won't do it are 2 different things. The rules DO cover it (which is why I posted it as a refresher course since you said the rules don't cover it) and it is covered under the "any penalties" part.

please dont quote rules... Im quite sure I know them....LOL but the rule say "to nullify OBS' the rule is talking about the OBS runner...
-
in this play you posted it didnt say what the Br did..
-
they seem to be convinced otherwise 'over there' ...don't they ?? I dont know where 'over there' is but mazzamouth is wrong because all runners can be placed where the umpires think they would of ended up. man you guys are quick to throw some one under the bus...LOL
-
Thats cool you can say I was wrong.. but it is not the Umpires responsibility to judge on the guy who was not OBS.. I know they can per the rule.. but they will not..
-
Ye tough no call.. it can almost go both ways.. but when the contact was made, F4 had already missed the ball. This Br is Delmon Young and yes he was the guy who threw his bat at a replacement umpire in a MiLB game.
-
looking at the reply, it looks like he had a good angle... but maybe he just thought, and you can see him tell the fielder that he tagged him, but late...
-
There is nothing in the rules about placing a Non OBS runner.. good call... only the OBS runner will get his awarded base.

I am a 36 waist, 38 belt, and a 42-44 jacket. I think I will go to the XL for my plate shirts to wear w/ the WV Gold. The ones I have right now fit, but they just look a bit snug with the Gold. Your my size exactly and the XL Honig is what I wear with my WV Gold. I am the same size and I wear a L on the plate and i could wear a Medium on the bases.. the shirts are made a little bigger on purpose.. get your belt 1 size up, as You are suppose to have 3 holes showing on your belt.

I can not comment on Bob Davidson.....so i dont know..Are you just pointing this out cause Bob went to Harry's?... I will assume you are playing coy on this one. Seems like I read a situation from a box score recently (Aug. 2), while I was googling around, that was similar to what I described. I was just trying to figure out a way (legal or illegal and not ethically right either) that could have helped the 2nd game of a 7 inning double header end in 7 innings and sent the umpires on their way rather than have to work 12 innings in a season ending game, and which school might have mentioned the best way to get out of dodge on get away day other than calling 16 straight pitches a ball (tongue in cheek here for both the school and the situation). I just threw Bob's name in since everyone calls him balk-in Bob whether that is fair to him or not (I think not), and was not trying to reference any school with his name. I knod of thought you were just having fun with Bob... I will be quiet about him.. "silence can't be misquoted"....LOL

http://umpire-empire...-wendelstedt-r9 Here you go I hope it helps. Be sure to check out the other interviews in the "Articles & Interviews" tab at the top. Just like Warren says.. My partner for almost 4 weeks went to Jims.. so i got some really good insight on there school.. Plus I have been to a Clinic that Jim Puts on.. I do like Jim, he is very funny..but he runs his school like a boot camp.. and that is cause he spent some time in the Army.. and there is no problem with that.. But I know at Harry's we had fun and learned to Umpire..we spent a lot of time on the field. i do believe that Harry's is better, and i should I went there.. but overall you are going to one of them, and it is a GREAT choice.. you will make a ton of friends and have fun learning to umpire. I will only give Jimmy's guys crap for going there.. it is a little rivalry between the two schools...LOL

Mazza, Thanks for the thoughts. If you dont mind me asking, how much live game evaluations was there? Every live game you do is evaluated .. I think I did about 10 -11 live games, and that is working the plate and bases.

I will say this one more time... when I was at PBUC this year ( 2011) Gary Cederstrom told us the MLB umps have had there shirts custom made just for these cooling pads. They are not after market zippers put in there shirts.. I have listen to about 4 MLB umps talk about this. Then let's change "after-market" to "custom-made". BTW the shirts were made for all of the umps.
