Enjoy! That is what the "Chest Protector Porn" thread is for. With all due respect, I would consider this a duplicate thread for that reason

mw94
When I started 35 years ago, It was a common to see this style chest protector for low level baseball. I had this but then upgraded to a Joe Brinkman +POS after that I got Reach Randy Marsh anyone remember that one?
GerryB
Ha, I had the same two! The Marsh was so much stiffer in person than they looked in the old catalog. Gave it away quickly.

My first set of gear I ever bought (or that my parents bought me... cause I was 13 and umpiring was my first money earning job that wasn't working for my parents... was the Brinkman shins, the carbon fiber mask (2nd gen at least I'm pretty sure), and I think the Al Clark chest protector from +POS. MAN! Did I ever think I was living the high life with that gear back then! Lol

Are you the same kid, or did a parent take over the account? Not that kids can't start businesses, I was just wondering. (Plus I'm not sure what age "just a kid" was meant to imply.)

So yah, I call myself a kid even though I am 17. Lol. No, no parent took over the account. Lol. And yes I retrofit chest protectors. It’s quite easy if you know the right people to help you put them together. such as I have someone who cuts foam for me, then I have someone who sees it all together, while I order supplies, and design and craft everything to be sent off to a upholster to sew it together.

I’m going to point out a few traits that make an All-American ProCP – and by extent, a Riddell Power – that much better than a recent Wilson WV Gold... especially one totally produced in China: the (vinyl) connecting splines between the carapace plates allows for not only a more conforming fit, but also that pad segments – especially at the shoulders and flanks – can be altered, repaired, repositioned, or removed without having to unstitch critical seams. the (in this case, navy) tinted ABS plastic carapace plates signify these plates are molded / cast here in the States. That means they’re denser, less brittle, and can be pre-shaped to hold a curve better than a similar plate made overseas. most importantly, the padding vest is shaped and segmented by seams. Properly placed seams are your friend here, because they allow you to get a more conforming fit, introduce the practice of suiting the volume to the need (zone-specific), and create channels for air to move within. The padding vest is 50-75% thinner than a Gold. That’s less foam, less bulk, and a lower-profile, more conforming fit. When Wilson secured production of the Gold and follow-on Platinum overseas, they optimized them for-profit, not for-protection.
catsbackr
I never owned a Carlucci, but this All American is the most comfortable and provides the best protection of all the CP’s I’ve worn. And, I’ve worn almost everything ever produced.

BT_Blue
I can add my name to the love for the old All American! So much so, that even though I have not been on the field for going on three years, I can't bring myself to sell it. Only reason it got bumped to a back up spot was because I got the Cobalt and I need to figure out how to replace the padding at some point.
