I also wanted to add that yesterday, SWMBO and I traveled to Williamsport.  I attended the LLWS Umpire Alumni International meeting & brunch.  While there, I met one of the umpires when he handed me his pin.  I read the pin (that had his name on it) looked at him and stuck out my hand.  @RichMSN I presume.  He looked at me like I had 3 eyeballs and a runny nose.  He replied with a quizzical "yes?".  All I said was Aging_Arbiter.  This cat got a little smile on his face, we kind of chuckled, and I literally turned to my left and said Rich, please meet SWMBO.  It was kind of entertaining. 

But the potatoes were under cooked.

I'm thinking like AA. IMHO, I thought she was really good. They've never had a female umpire for a final game have they. I guess we'll see if PC is involved.

Well, KD has the plate today for the 3:00 LLWS Championship Game. . . did anyone really have any doubts? HA!

Looks like she should easily be up to the task with plenty of umpiring experience. Wonder why Perry Barber never made D1 but only Jucco or D3 out of all the Northeast D1 Conference Leagues, ie American East, Ivy League,  Patriot League, Northeast Conference, & MAAC, or even Big East, Big 10, or Atlantic 10. 

Will be interesting to see how many D1 Baseball Conferences (as opposed to just softball) and Power 5 & 6 Conferences, reach out, right off the bat, if Pawol and Charlesworth-Sellers are let go at some point in MiLB. You can have MiLB credit count towards experience for D1 Conferences and for Playoffs to quickly advance to Conference Games & Tournaments and Regional Playoffs.

Of course, this assumes that umpiring D1 does not get in the way of the much needed day job.

This evening was the first chance I had to watch the replay of the LLWS Championship Game. 

I was absolutely appalled and disgusted that the ESPN commentators mentioned Kelly Dine’s family medical issues after an interview with them. This is totally uncalled for, irrelevant, and reprehensible! I contacted ESPN via phone and also an email stating my opinion regarding this matter. I personally don’t see this as a “tribute” to KD or her family. I view it as an intrusion.

I wonder how those commentators would like their family issues to be publicly aired?

They have my contact info if they wish to comment directly to me.

You realize she must have provided a lot of those details and approved of the use. She did sit and do media interviews with ESPN

She sat down and talked with them about it... I think she was ok with it. I think you’re trying way too hard to find something to be upset with.

She wouldn’t have talked about it with them if she didn’t want them to talk about it. Again... you trying way too hard to find something to be pissed off about.

It's a fairly daunting prospect. There are a few I'm proud of, there's a few that I'd like to be erased. There's a F/F call I'd like the benefit of having the video to review it on, and then there's the one play that exonerates my crew, but we were raked over the coals on by the coaching staff of the team the call went ultimately against. Several could be used as textbook or manual examples of how a Rotation or a Push works, while we have a countable few wherein we were not quite where we aimed to be, and will strive to improve upon.

There are two videos that my #3 on the crew would like no-one to see, or even remember... something to do with slippery infield grass.

All in all, though, video really does help our development. One has no reason to fear it – unless they are stuck in (a) bad habit(s) and are stubborn or resistant to correction and change.
