Not a Fed game but I'd grab the 2nd out here as It looked like the runner popped up. Also, while it was difficult to see from the angle presented, their may have been contact beyond the base. That is contact on top of the base forcing F4 back beyond the base.

Easy pop up illegal slide call....I don't see an EJ here, but absolutely 2 outs.

while I agree with the out on the pop-up, I don't agree on the contact.,  Since the initial contact was on top of / over the bag, it's legal for that contact to continue (or for there to be new contact all related to the same momentum) after the base,

This, with the proviso that what makes a pop-up slide illegal is that it's into a fielder, as we have here. A pop-up slide alone is not illegal.

This, too: that's what I saw.

We impose a lot of restrictions on runners with FPSR (both NCAA and FED, though the latter is slightly more restrictive — for instance, on this play). The mechanics key is to watch the fielder, not the runner: when he's set up on or in front of the base to make the relay, he's fair game for contact.

The pop-up slide into a fielder, OTOH, is NOT excused by the fielder being on the base. FPSR.

As I said, I can't tell if the contact continued past the bag. I'm comfortable with the idea the rule should protect the fielder when he is not on or in front of the bag. However, if the slide is late enough and hard enough to contact the fielder and carry him back beyond the bag? Do we now have contact beyond the bag?

No, at least not illegal contact. Illegal contact beyond the base is initiated beyond the base.

It's like a block in the back in football: if the initial contact is on the side, and the opponent turns his back, that's not an illegal block in the back.

Sliding late and hard — like popping up — is not illegal. Sometimes the results are.

No.  It's illegal if the slide is beyond the base AND THEN makes contact with the fielder.  The order, and the timing, are important.
