Some good things happening

Though I have been a little less active on the site over the last few months, some nice things have been happening from an umpiring perspective:

- I was asked to be our HS association's rules interpreter
- I was asked to be a classroom instructor for the same association
- I was invited into the local college association and will start calling JUCO ball next season.  It's my understanding that from a total pool of about 45-50 that applied, 14 were selected to be evaluated and 6 were then accepted into the association.

I feel incredibly lucky that a few experienced umpires have taken an interest in helping me to improve and always seem to point me in the right direction on the best ways to find better baseball and to move up.  It's going to be difficult to manage work, HS games and college games in the Spring, but it should be fun!

I'll be going to Palo Alto - I booked my flight and hotel yesterday.  I think you and I met a few years ago at the MLB 1-day clinic in Compton.  It was probably 2011 or so.

true, but then you have to wait until it comes.  I have a digital copy and 3 with notes and the past years test.  All of which can be helpful to someone just getting into college baseball and wanting to get a jump start before January.

I actually have the PDF version - I think someone posted it here a couple of weeks ago.  I definitely want to get a jump start on the rules.  I love that they have a section that lists rules that are different from OBR.

Congratulations. As far as the HS rules stuff.  You are absolutely one of the best at that as evidenced by your posts here and by your incredible patience and persistence with some of the idiots on the Facebook pages.

As for the college.  Awesome.  So many umpires there in your AO.  Good things come to those who work hard.  Keep us posted on your progress.
