I feel like it's a joke.

I went ahead and hacked your account and put in a bid for you!

Hello there and thank you for your inquiry. The reason for the price is that this is a one of a kind CP that is no longer made. I am aware that Douglas came out with a new model CP that is just under $200, however the difference would the the color of the shell, padding and the logo. This could be considered a collector's item. This is also a brand new unused item. Thank you.

You never know what someone will pay.

I sold a Douglas/WV, that was in just okay condition, for nearly 3 bills a couple of years ago. New, Hardwick pants, I found at the local Goodwill, nearly made a mortgage payment. And that Riddell? Fuggteaboudit.

I remember when it was hard to buy a +POS SUL for under $150, used. Now, you can't give them away. Same for a navy plate coat.

Yeah, he missed timed selling it, but again, you never know what someone just has to have.

Oh, and I gave the exact same, black Douglas to a Junior umpire last year. I sent him that eBay post, and told him to take damn good care of his rig. ( I think I paid $20 for it at a Play it Again Sports store)

I have the same protector but from 97. Got it as a gift from a very dear friend of mine. I don't think I would ever let it go but if I did it would be for way more than $600. So on some levels I can sympathize with the seller but it's not like his is vintage or has any sentimental value.

Same here. Sold my Douglas/WV for nearly $300 a few years ago.

The older black/black Douglas CPs aren't any different than the new ones except for the color of the padding and plastic. It's the same protector.

That said, if anyone wants to give me about $150 for my 14" Douglas I'll happily take it.

A 14" is rare.  You can get $800

This could be considered a collector's item like I could be considered Channing Tatum if I spent a month in the gym.
