In the fine print it says that they actually do the running for you to save muscle fatigue.

I've found that soccer socks are perfect for use underneath shinguards. They're designed to stay up and well ventilated, as well.

I've got a few pairs from Nike, Diadora, and Under Armour. But nothing that cost $30 :-

Jax, FWIW, I've worn these for two seasons now and find them supportive and comfortable.

... and find them supportive [snip].

They're the only things in the park, other than maybe your partner, guaranteed to agree with all your calls.

Since I wear compression pants for every game, I don't spend a lot of time analyzing socks. I have three pair of Power Sox that have lasted me four seasons. I just now need to replace them, so I looked online to see who sold them. I'll be making a trip to Academy Sports. 3 pair for $8.99.

I don't know that I can spend $30 on a pair of socks!

Quit pissing people off, get voted Member of the Month and you can get them for $15.00.

I've always worn the Thor-lo combat boot socks.  Great padding in the toe and heel and the front of the shin.  Up to $20 a pair.  I love them and they don't get hot and always stay up.

These are actually recovery socks.  I suppose that you could wear them during a game but they are meant to be worn after an athletic activity to aid in muscle recovery.  I have a pair from a different manufacturer that I use in basketball season.  Put them on after every game and sleep in them.  They are not a miracle cure but they are definately worth 30 bucks.

I use a similar type sock for basketball officiating and they definitely help, thought I do not wear them nor do I find them necessary to wear in baseball.

Viagra makes socks? I laughed much too hard at this.

Perhaps a pair of complimentary powder blue shorts and shoes to go with those socks.  And make sure to pull them shorts up to your nipples.

If the socks allow you to umpire for more than 4 hours, do you need to call your assignor?

Just make sure that you always practice safe umpiring. Even if both you and your partner have been evaluated, you should always use protection (on the plate).
