The one is much closer, but I think the BR's left foot is on the ground outside the lane when he's hit with the throw.  Hard to tell from the angles they gave us.

So tired of the hosts/announcers using the "he has to be in fair territory to touch the base" argument when the BR's are hit with the throw in fair territory 15-20 feet before the bag

Stop it around 1.20 and go frame by frame. He's hit with the throw about 40 feet from 1st, with his left foot on the ground. You can't see that foot, F3 is in the way, but go a few more frames and his next few steps are all outside the lane. I like the way this is being called consistently. Why don't these guys just run in  the lane?

the worst part is that he was running in foul territory for part of the way up then decided to run out of the lane.

I don't see the ball hit him from any angle. Either way, it's not a quality throw. I'd say Gerry got this one wrong.

Why is it not a quality throw?

No quality throw. No RLI in my opinion.

Well there you go - johnnyg08 says no RLI; Gerry Davis says otherwise. Hard to decide who's right
