Plate shoes too?!?!?!

Remember years ago ol' Tim C. was working with NIKE on a prototype plate shoe.......was pretty far along in the development process as I recall, maybe the possibility of being the MLB supplier would push that project back onto the front burner....

Uniforms, caps and plate and base shoes.?........

I don't think Majestic would be putting it out there without MLB Umpires approval.  That thumb thing though.

There is a rumor that Majestic will not be the official supplier of MLB umpire Uni's next year. Nike will supply the uniforms for both teams and umpires.

Whoa.  So, the nauseating Oregon Duck colors on the bases?

Plate shoes too?!?!?!

I would jump on that bandwagon!

Hope they make them wide.

MLB umpires have been getting the short end of the marketing stick. They get a HUGE amount of TV time, and do almost zero with it. Now I'm not advocating looking like Japanese or South American umpires, who are akin to NASCAR drivers. But wearing Majestic shirts and Honig's pants, and not getting one thin dime for it, is absolutely stupid. The working guy gets some product, and some replacements. Hell, I got more than that as a low level bike racer, who rarely got his mug in the tele.

And what do they wear? Awful, by any athletic standard, shirts, wool slacks, and archaic protection. And why is that? I'll guess by saying their bosses don't care, pocket any endorsement deal, and know the umpires are just happy to be there. I mean the Holy Grail of umpire gear is a 20 year Riddell, and a Nike catcher's mask. Somehow, we have to do better.

I see the future for MLB umpires, if some deep pockets move in. A heads up display in the mask/helmet, akin to Goggle Glass, that projects the strikezone for each player in front of them. Head protection that actually works. Masks are better, but we're still using a design from the 30's. Clothing that looks good, breathes, and moves, as the umpires on the field look more like the players, and less like Joe West.

Chew on this, fellas. If those Majestic shirts were on a rack at Macy's, with a $50 price tag on them, would you look twice at them? Of course not. You'd buy a Nike, or Adidas ClimaCool shirt in a heartbeat. Yet the MLB has been making us wear that ugly crap they trickle down to us for years. I can think of only one organization, USSSA, that actually has an original jersey. All the others just follow along.

No one got a hard on with their last design, and these are even worse. I don't get it. (well, yes I do. They don't care about the umpires. Never have).

Nike shoes are too narrow for me.  I can't be the only one.  I'm comfy in my Zigs, though.

Both are too narrow.

I like your post, but I really like the uniforms they are wearing now.

I wasn't big on the current shirts at first, but they have grown on me. They are nice and look good.

This stuff is unbelievably bad. Just nauseating.

I would never wear those horribly ugly USSSA shirts...

I've liked the uniforms ever since I started watching baseball. They're neat, clean, and a helluva lot more professional looking than these pieces of junk.

In New Balance I buy a EE. Zigs are a half size up.

EEEE for me in NB. I'm not sure I could "size up" enough in Zigs without looking like I borrowed from Ronald McDonald.

It's weird; I wear a 4E with NB base shoes, but standard D width for the plates.

As with any other jersey redesigns, I'll reserve judgment until I see them in person. I do like on the mock up that it appears there is something to hold the collars in place - a snap or Velcro or something.

They are made on different lasts I think so they will have a different foot bed and thus be different sized even in "D".  IOW, "D" does not always mean "D".

Same is true of the 450- to the 460 change a couple of years ago.

From the Ump-Attire.com Facebook page:

Any difference between current Majestic shirt and the 2015 version?
Quite a bit. Instead of the pebble knit fabric, the shirts are more of the common flat back mesh with "bubble" mesh vented side panels and tail. Snaps at the collar will help keep the collar looking sharp. A placket has been added over the buttons to give a smoother appearance to the front of the shirt. From what I have seen trim on the sleeves and torso are gone from the black shirt but the navy still has the red and white trim around the collar and sleeve. Looks like no polo blue offering for 2015.

No blue polo!

I was in Atlanta at noon and they were sweating through the blue shirts! They're going to have guys going down left and right if they have to wear black during midday and afternoon games in Georgia, Arizona, Texas, SoCal, Florida!
