High school baseball here in Missouri is pretty standard in how umpires are paid - usually have to wait around 30 days or so to get paid.  Summer ball, however can be frustrating!

Here in Pennsylvania or my local chapter, High school ball is paid before the game.  Summer ball, some paid at plate or 2 wks period depending on the orgainization.

Most high schools  - It's a voucher at the game and then depending on the district, anywhere from 5 days to 2 + months.  I just got the check yesterday for a game I worked 4/25.

LL - twice a month or so the UIC sends a bill and chases the money down from the leagues.

Travel ball/USABL/USOTB - a check is sent out 2 days after the games.

A couple of adult leagues, still pay cash at the beginning, I think.

Its Missouri.

What do you expect people to act normal?

In Missouri, shouldn't they "show me" the money?

Hijack Alert.......

What policies, if any, does your league/association use for teams failing to notify umpires of a game being cancelled? And of course, the umpires show up and there is no game to be had.........

Full fees are due.

And back to the original topic ... our area pays umpires at the field in cash.

An electronic call system that alerts everyone prior to having to leave for the field.

OP: Weekly check, picked up in concession stand.

In my neck of the woods , if you show and there is no gm played/started within 15 minutes of the scheduled time . you leave the site and you are paid the full gm fee(s) .  now when you will get those gms fees that's another story ............... i am currently waiting for 2 gm fees

all summer/fall off season games regardless of what level/type of ball is $$ @ plate . unless the arbiter account says something like "assignor pays" . which is rare

HS is either a check sometime before we leave or RefPay.

Summer ball is usually cash sometime before the game is over.  Sometimes they have to go break large bills to split between the crew.

Most summer HS ball - Paid in cash

Travel ball - cash at the end of the weekend

MSBL - League writes me two checks per season; I pay it out from there

Posted

Around here (Kentucky) HS is paid by voucher with a check a week to a month out depending on the school.  Summer ball is all handled by an association, they send out check every two weeks.  Seems to work pretty good.

Posted

HS - vouchers filled out at the field, check within 30 days

Summer rec - cash at plate

Summer tournaments - TD or site manager finds us in the parking lot at some point throughout the day and gives us checks

Legion (and one tournament) - paid by assigner at the end of the summer

Posted

All games through the local HS association (HS, summer, tourney) are paid once a year at the end of the summer. 1

That's a BS policy.

Do the "cash/check at the plate" folks make you sign a receipt and acknowledgement of your status as an independent contractor?  Do they send you a 1099?

those are rhetorical questions...right ?
