The prototype is probably the only one available.  If you want it fresh and ready for the 2017 season, you better order it now.

Im gonna give +POS a shot with a mask, because I can change out masks between innings should I feel unsafe, can't do that with a cp so before I even think about this thing I want to hear reviews that it is a safe product

Never seen any umpire switch out a mask during a game before... Seems unprofessional if you ask me

I'm a youth umpire, my bag is behind the backstop, 10ft from me, I have the luxary of changing mask and by "during the game" I mean between innings I don't stop play, unless my mask breaks of course than it takes like 15 seconds to swap out

It actually looks a lot like the Douglas except the coveted gap protection is standard on this one.  At the $100 price point it could be a game changer.

agreed. IF you can actually get your hands on it before you retire. I do, however, have a partner that ordered the +pos plate shoes and he never complained about the wait.

What's unprofessional about changing masks as long as you don't delay the game? I don't see the issue.

I've had 2 +POS protectors in my time.....the old ribbed version and the bulletproof samurai warrior furnace BB2000..........i like the look of this new one, but Im so attached to my Plat...it would be a backup at best....

Looking at the closeup shot of the padding, I'd say it's pretty thick.  But the pic could be misleading.  I'd like to see it in person.

I know several of you have had issues with +POS and their customer service, delivery, etc.  I'll say this...I ordered from them yesterday and paid through my Pay-Pal account.  I noticed I had never updated my Pay-Pal with my new mailing address so I e-mailed +POS to make sure my order was sent to my correct address (the one I used on their website).  Within a couple hours I received a response from him saying he 1) had already shipped my order & 2) used the correct mailing address.  We had a decent little back and forth e-mail communication afterwards.  Now, I know I might get some special attention that others don't receive because of my clinics, and that might have been what happened.  I'm sure he's aware that his company's reputation took a pretty big hit a few years ago and he has to do some things to build it back up and taking care of a guy who some people listen to (why, I don't know...) might be a good thing.  All I can do is report my results and hope you have the same.

MidAmUmp,

Do companies, such as +POS, ever provide you products, or have representatives of the company come to your clinics, and allow the umpires test out the products at your clinics?  Seems like that would be a great way to let a bunch of umpires get a look at a new product that they might not otherwise know/care about. I've been to a clinic at which a retailer, speciffically Ump-Attire, was there and had some of the products they sell for us to take a look at.  But I haven't seen a specific company showcasing their product at a clinic.  Just curious.

I have a relationship with Ump-Attire.  Jim came to the clinic a couple years ago...and I'd love to have him come back this year.  YOU HEAR THAT JIM!!!!

When All-Star came out with the System 7 CP (before it was on the market), I contacted them and they sent one to me to display.

I agree that a clinic would be a great market to display/try on products.  Besides Ump-Attire, I've never been contacted by anyone.

Yes Jim come back to KC to see Jason, his students and me. I owe you some BBQ.

@Majordave - Is the weather bad where you are? They postponed the Univ. of Virginia and Ole Miss game tonight.

The association clinic I go to has Honig's there with most of their equipment and you can try it on, all is free shipping, even if they don't have your size and they have to send it to you. Most you take home that day. A different association had similar setup with someone else. This was two years ago and I don't remember who it was, but I think it was Ump Attire. @rtj6

KC is three hours south of Omaha. We've been getting rain overlap from then off and on all week but none of the tornadoes and such. Nothing but sunny skies, heat and humidity here last night. I was offered college woodbat in Clarenda Iowa last night but I had plans with my lady. My home grilled hickory smoke DaveBurgers, beers, tequila shots......you can use your imagination for what else.
