I've heard this mentioned in passing on a couple of occasions, but I'd like a few more details. Who does this? What mask do you do it with? And, do you like it?

The reason I ask is that I want to get a logo'd six-stitch hat from Honig's, but its a special item and I don't think I'll make the deadline for the order. They only carry logo'd eight and four stitches.

So the other option is buying a plain six-stitch and ironing on the letters myself. Anyone do this? And if so, how?

I wear 8 stitch hats.

Now, everyone has a differently shaped noggin, so one answer doesn't fit all. My hats work with non-New View style frames, with enough clearace for the pads to compress without the frame hitting the bill (very important!).

I do know that some fellows can't remove their masks, without tearing off their hats, when using an 8 stitch. I have no such troubles, perhaps due to me having a more hatchet like face.

I switched to the bucket last season and wear no hat.

For many years I wore a mask and always wore 8 stitch hats. I would never wear shorter brims.

Im a bit old school and like the 4 stitch hats on the dish. However, too have been knowns to grab the wrong hat and can still use my Diamond Silver mask and most likely my new FM25 All Star mask. Both have TW pads.

Here in Michigan, ...you can't do that .....  it's either 4 or 8 stitch that Honig's does for MHSAA .....

I have 2 8-stitch hats ....one for bases, one for plate ........works fine

I've worn an 8-stitch with a Diamond iX3, Champro Mag, and a All-Star FM25ti (my current mask) - no issues with any of these  I also have a +POS Zero-G which is a bit lower profile and while an 8-stitch will work, the brim gets a bit too close to the bars for my tastes (less than a finger width), so I wear a 6-stitch on the rare occasion I use that mask

Seriously folks, I generally wear a 6 stitch under my mask, and now that I have 2 masks ( don't know what I am going to do with 2 masks), I will see what the new mask feels best with. I have worn an 8 stitch when I have forgotten the 6 stitch, and it works just fine. Its not what I'm comfy doing though.

"don't know what I am going to do with 2 masks?

Did you really say this?

Remember this umpire bumper sticker:

Yes, I knew that would get a rise out of the gear junkies. But, I do have 3 chest protectors!!!

3, wow.

I have 3 in my equipment bag in my truck, plus a few more in the garage.
