Some guys in my association swear by wearing under armour type tights, even in the blazing hot VA summer.  I wear a sleeveless one under my CP, but haven't tried the spandex leggins.

Does anyone here use them in the heat?  Would you recommend?

And please, no pictures of any of you in your tights.  Thanks in advance.

I go back and forth. I do recognize the wicking advantage, but sometimes the mental aspect of having leggings on underneath my gear in a 98 degree 95 % humidity summer game in NY is just too much to overcome.

I wear my McDavid tights for every game, especially behind the plate. I can't imagine wearing leg guards without the tights between them and my legs.

I wear McDavid tights on every game. Great support and it gets in the 110's here in the summer. Here is a site of a company I have discovered in Missouri.

Good price on McDavid tights with the floating cup holder, which holds your bits and pieces against your body when working the dish.

Used to umpire for the MUA. Those tights are great in that Missouri humidity. Now, if McDavid could only do something about those damn bugs. Especially the ones in the grill of my car when I would get home from Quincy.

Since switching to the Nutty Buddy this year (what took me so long?), I've used my McDavids and Shock Doctors longies over the top of them.

I'll probably look for something without a cup pocket soon. I really like the material on the Champion shirts, sold at Target.

By long legs, fo' sure. No matter the temp, they're the best. No more strap rub, and lots cooler. You too will wonder what took you so long.

I never received an answer on a question, so help me out here. Does the nutty buddy work with the floating cup holder that come with McDavid tights?

I wear my Shock Doctor leggings from UA every game. Works well summer and winter. Admittedly our winters tend to be relatively mild, if it stays below 16 degrees C (about 60F) its unusal. Our summers regularly have 30-35C (86-95F) days, and are know to push 40C (104F) or higher every so often. Haven't had to work a game in that level of heat, but have done some in the low 30s without a problem, plate or bases.

Every game. In 100 degree weather with the gawd-awful humidity in Alabama. Won't work a game without them. Pete Jr gave me crap about them, until I threw a clean pair at him, and told him I'd hand him a $20 if he could honestly say it was less comfortable with him wearing them. His response after the game ? He put them in HIS laundry bag, and said "Thanks Pops"...

If I know I'm only doing plates I will wear the McDavid padded tights and if I am doing a mix I will wear the UA tights. I haven't worked a game in quite some time without them and my legs are the least of my concerns when its hot out, typically I "feel the heat" in my chest and head and keep in mind this is in Miami heat and humidity.

Definitely wear them or give them a try!

Absolutely not.

I wore the McDavid, then the Shock Doctor for years. The cup never made a tight fit, and sort of floated away from my body, at times. The Nutty Buddy solution is far superior for me. Money well spent.

And I wear leggings of some sort on the bases now, too.

Thanks. Now I have some closure on the subject. Ha

UA for everything.  Cold gear tights in March and April and Heatgear the rest of the season.  I'm very fortunate though because I have a UA outlet in my town.  Coldgear clearance in the summer and Heatgear clearance in the winter.  Can't beat it.

And around here, we refer to them as "Spider Mans". A varsity asst coach came out to the parking lot between DH games on a Saturday, to bring my partner and I a dog and Gatorade. I was standing in my compression pants and shirt, and Van said "Oh, wow. I didn't know Spider Man was here". A nickname was born...

Switched to the padded McDavid's and a NuttyBuddy after taking one on the inside of my thigh early last season.  Prior to that, I never worked a game without the long tights...football, baseball or basketball.  They don't add heat, I think they are 100% as advertised.

Eastbay has their own line of compression gear now.  It's durable and really cheap.  Free shipping too!

They actually have a 2 for $29.99 sale going on right now.  Just ordered a couple pairs!

I bought a couple.  They are MUCH thinner than the UA Heatgear leggings.  They seem to do the job well enough, but I'll be shocked if they last near as long as the UA ones have.
