1) Charlie O'Brian was the first catcher to wear a HSM

2) Catch the ball where it is. Pulling pitches that miss their spot back in pisses me off; likewise, pulling a pitch back that you butcher (like AJ-P when Barret chucked him last year) is equally frustrating. On the other hand, when a catcher pushes pitches that may seem close but really miss away from the plate / knees for me earns him massive respect and just about any borderline call I can give him.

3) Trying to frame a pitch that may/may not be over the plate but has missed its spot so badly that it is being received outside of the catcher's body (IE target is inside, ball is thrown outside, or vice versa) really ticks me off.

4) The more glove over the plate a catcher can give me, the more likely I will give him a close pitch.

Really good video. Especially the part about having soft hands. Just receive the ball and throw it back to the pitcher. If you're pushing and pulling, then you are telling everybody in the yard that it is a ball.

This should be mandatory viewing for coaches, catchers, and pitchers!

There was a really awesome bit on MLB Tonight with Dave Valle talking about receiving pitches and such. Mainly talked about being as "quiet" as possible behind the plate. He showed Bengie Molina as a good example and Jesus Montero as a bad example. (All I could think about is how piss poor a receiver Willin Rosario is.)

Very good video that gives truth to the saying "The hand is not quicker than the eye" as most coaches think.
