How often do you suppose the ball gets defaced by a bat or the ground and is not thrown out by the umpires?

If they penalize the catcher for doing stuff to the ball, then the first baseman will have to start something :) . If there is a will there is a way.

I find it amazing how many youth pitchers (including HS) want a new ball because it has a small scuff on it or has a mark on it. Who is teaching these kids to pitch??

i watch a lot of Giants games and almost every pitch Posey gives the sign then reaches down, rubs his hand in the dirt, then wipes it off on his leg. And i have seen many other

catchers in the MLB do the same.

haven't been able to watch many Royals games to see if Perez is doing this.

just may be some of what the coloring on his shin guard is.

Didn't see it happen even once in the past two games - and I was watching for it.
